Just wanted to make sure: So I usually catepillar up using my right elbow to grip (and left arm down) But when you're doing the iron x from the extended aysha, you grip with your LEFT elbow (I noticed in karol's videos that she does this), and come down away from the side of your elbow grip?

Yes, I feel I have the same problem.. kinda hurts (pinchy) if I flex a little too far up or down. Started with my right wrist, but now it seems like I have a little bit of this pain in my left (ulnar)side as well. Not sure what's wrong. I've been off it for about 4-5 weeks already.

@amy… how did they find out that you have something dislocated or that you've torn connective tissue? Do you have to have an x ray or MRI? MRI can see connective tissue but x rays can't?

Also, when ppl are referring to a "physio" do they mean physical therapist? They can diagnose?

hmm.. probably already saw your ex already hehe.. but basically the formula for weight loss is energy expenditure must exceed caloric intake. You can probably calculate your basal metabolic rate (a simple formula) and see what that is and adjust caloric intake based on that. And of course exercise helps to shed weight and keep healthy, as well as strength training can help you look more toned 🙂 best of luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I prefer 2 per pole, especially if you're doing tricks because you have to have the rest in between. And yes, it gives you a chance to learn from others and a sense of camraderie. I like the switching between two people. I'd be lucky if there were only 2 ppl per pole at my studio. But there's some places like S factor where there's only 2 poles for like 10 students! It depends on how you structure/present the class. Some studios like to focus on the femininity and empowerment/soulfullness of it, so I can see how it would be better to have 2+ per pole because pole is only a part of the all encompassing camraderie/connectedness of the class. So while they're not geting 100% pole time, the students still thoroughly love it and keep coming back for more because they love the environment and the people they've found a connection with. Some people just like to go to class because it's a relief from their stressful day. At S factor, there's some student that won't even hop on the pole.. they just want to free dance and take the stress away, but do it in a safe environment. So if it's a place that they'll love going to, that brings them out, challenges them, and makes them feel wonderful at the end of the day.. I don't think they'll mind two per pole  🙂

I kind of have the same question… I used to not do any upper body workouts at all because I do not want to get bulky at all. But now that I'm trying to get myself into more advanced moves (phoenix, iron x prep, some mounts), I feel like I have to lift weights in order to gain the strength to get into those moves. I was always anti-nautilus equipment.. but I think it's almost necessary in order to make it easier to get into the more advanced moves.. and for injury protection? Am I on the right track?

I've recently been doing nautius shoulder and chest presses..

I would definately go for the workshop… I always think I dunno when I'll get the opportunity again.. Too because I live in a place where workshops are few and far in between. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

yay! Another dancer! I do like the artistic side of pole, and sometimes I feel we can get caught up in the sport of it rather than the creative free-flowing fluidity of it. I'm actually taking ballet now, and boy is it haaaarrrddd! just to hold the position!

I guess it depends on body type and how much one's comfortable revealing? I heard the mikeala shorts were more revealing so I didn't order them. The Lucia shorts looked really revealing also? I wonder if they're more or less revealing than the kiki shorts?

I have both the betty and kiki shorts, which I think are really flattering but at the same time I wish there was more coverage "down there." Esp when you're in a studio in the daytime w/ natural lighting coming in. But I'm semi ok w/ wearing them in a more dimly lit studio.

I think goals are good for certain things such as educational goals, life goals, etc. But for pole dancing, I do it for the sheer enjoyment of it. It's not a means to an end. I am very much there to be in the moment and I find it very liberating. I don't feel like I have to have any goals w/ pole dancing. In the sewing example, yes, you sew and the product of sewing is that you have your own clothes, but I would think you would enjoy the act of sewing by itself (that it's pure enjoyment), and having your own clothes is merely a by product of the enjoyment of sewing. That's how pole dancing is for me.

I would like to compete one day, but I'm not always thinking about that when I pole dance. Sometimes I have tiny goals though, for example, I keep a list of moves that I work on until I feel comfortable with them.

Also, I never get frustrated with pole dancing because it's just something that I purely enjoy (esp when I'm with other pole dancers 🙂 I love everything that I can do and look forward to accomplishing that which I can't do now.
