I know I have A LOT of issues with slippage w/ the x poles.. tried both the 45mm and 55mm both are slippery and I couldn't even do a spin proper on them. I personally loooove the lil mynx poles, they are soo shiny and I stick to them sooo well! <3 Too bad they don't have a lot of marketing because I just think the surface of their poles is awwesome! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Are there exercises u can do that the gym to prepare for the iron x?

Yah I know I like the cotton loose stuff cause I feel like I can move freely in them. I like Gap body's stuff a lot, and just generic boy shorts.. but those do gape open when i do the splits, but sometimes it doesn't matter too much cause my classes are in the evening w/ low light. I'll def check out the hanes boxer briefs 🙂

I never really gave a whole lot of thought to really conditioning myself for pole.. besides, just the basic core/ab, pushup, cardio at the gym. But a lot of my friends have been getting injured lately and the other day I was doing a jackknife and something tweaked in my shoulder ( I mean it's not bad at all, but I know something very very small moved a way it didnt' want to so it allowed me to really give some thought into how I want to go about practicing).
I never did any upper body conditioning that the gym (cause I didn't want to bulk up https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif.. and because I'm genetically prone to muscle hypertrophy), buuuuttt… now that I'm starting to progress into more horizontal/upper body holds/advanced movement… I feel it best to??
Just out of curiosity, what type of conditioning would be good for half/full cartwheel mounts, or any type of movement similar to this? This is a pushing movement, so would it be good to do the nautilus overhead shoulder presses at the gym?
I'm deeefinately going to do the conditiong exercises on this website.. For the band.. I tried to find the one that was used in the video but I couldn't find it online. I can basically use any band? Like the green/yellow/blue ones? Also, bands better than tubing?
Thanks!!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif
p.s. what are the most common injuries in pole dance? (just to keep myself safe https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Yes, I DID NOT want to get "bulky" at all when I started pole. Because I love to do photoshoots as well and if they're not going to be fitness photoshoots, they want girls that are not bulky. By the time I started inverting I began to gain more mass in my shoulders that were quite noticable. Till this day, I don't really like them, but I feel it's something that comes with the territory of pole. I keep tabs on my caloric intake and output also, to assure I'm not consuming an excess amt of calories. And yes, I think genetics has a lot to do with it. I'm genetically prone to muscle hypertrophy. But there's a way that you can gain strength via stronger neural firing as well, which I've read in my personal training book but have not forgotten lol.. sorry 🙁

That would be cool! I love stainless steel, my favs are the lil' mynx poles, I grip so well on them. However, I was talking to one of my pole instructors and she said that they used the stainless x poles at the last USPDF competition and she said they sucked! She said they weren't polished stainles steel like the lil mynx but some kind of stainless steel similiar to the kind you find in subways or something (like really dull and hard to work with). She said she was slipping a lot and the spin on it was really awful. She actually competed in it so.. I guess he experienced it first hand..
