Oh yeah, that 😛 I find that having my arms at about shoulder level (where my shoulders are before I "extend") is best for me. But I see some girls do it at their face, and some do it at their belly button level. I find the shoulder level to be best. It allows me to extend if I feel safe and balanced enough to, and then I'm not over-engaging/death gripping with my forearms and shoulders, if that makes sense. It's very hard to find a proper tutorial for this move, so I hope that one is in Veena's new package of goodies that she hinted at last week +_+

I sorta have this move. I can’t extend very far but can get my top leg off the pole. I did it from the floor and the crash mats were very helpful, but I was still afraid. I started doing it from the air slightly, and I find it much more comfortable since the whole sole of the foot is on the pole, not just the heel on the pole and the ball on the floor. Something to think about.

I live in Phoenix and am only in the bay area for 4-5 days a few months out of the year, but would love a buddy there 😀

I know that none of the instructors there are rude (Cristina was a doll) it was just a set of questions I had for every studio, not poletential in question.

I saw the 48"s in a pretty moss green color. I bet that's where she got them. Or the other leg warmer site someone linked a few weeks back….

I'll ask one of the instructors I saw at poletential. Hers went all the way to her thighs, I have no idea how she did a workshop with Phoenix in them @_@

I agree with JeHanne. I won't drive in shoes that aren't safe for driving. That includes flip flops! Flats and tennis shoes are the only shoes I will drive in. The officer can deal with my gross feet if he wants to pull me over, because I'm not wearing heels if i'm driving :<

Arnica and ice are your new pole buddies :3

I used to bruise really really really badly. Now I think my body is used to the torment, as when I learn a new trick the bruise only lasts for a few days. Like, having a menstrual cycle, just on my skin :p

It gets better, but you’ll have bruises that stay no matter what. The coloration will just start to fade. I have semi-permanent knee and foot bruises from dancing. My legs don’t look like a meth addict anymore, but do they still hurt when I crawl into bed!

I’m 5’10” and am only ever seen without heels when I’m going to work (going to be in stripper shoes all day long, don’t want to be in them on my way home.) I set up some rules for shoe buying. I will only buy the shoe if it fits. No, “aw, I’ll just use shoe strecth at home.” No, “I’ll grow into it.” It has to fit. And it has to be comfy at the store. If I can’t walk around the store looking at other things thinking, “SOMEONE CUT MY FEET OFF, THIS IS BS.” Or, “this isn’t that comfortable.” Then I won’t buy that pair. You can use th gel insoles, although its been said certain toe configurations will make heels less comfortable.

When I was engaged my fiance would always get mad when I wore heels because barefoot we were the same size. 3 years of tennis gave me legs of a goddess, and heels always made me feel better about my feet (hhaaaattteee feet. Anyone’s feet.) If he didn’t respect my wish to be extra sexy, or wear a pair of shoes that matched, screw him. And screw anyone else who thinks my beautiful legs make me “too tall”. I’ve heard “too fat” and “too skinny”. But longer legs make the illusion of better lines, right? Embrace them!

From a student’s perspective, I was taught outside leg instead of inside leg because I was taught to climb with my right foot behind the pole. Inverted crucifix for most beginners, while exciting, is not comfortable, and asking us to “switch legs” (the left foot would be behind the pole instead of the right) when we work up to an inversion level freaks me out :p

Anyone have a link that explains the difference between Dubstep and other types of synthesised music?

Whenever I learn it’s barefoot. I won’t do a certain move in heels until I’ve mastered it. Just for saftey. There will be certain moves I will cheat and use vinyl boots for (spatchcock and keem when I get to them) but my boots are only like, a 2″ heel. If it’s not atleast 4″, I don’t count it as a heel.

The bigger the better, right ;P

I’m 20, been pole dancing for almost 9 months. And there is only one move that she did that I know I can’t do. Which is arms only climb. I’m also almost entirely self taught (learned conditioning and flexibility, had 2basic classes and one adv so far.) My instructor swears up and down that I could do allegra and special k, so I’d assume I could do keem. So that brings my total to…4 moves that I don’t know? Including the aerialsummersault thing that I always forget the name of. And I’ve never tried The Embrace, but it’s in my “this is going to hurt like a mofo bone bruises” series with yogini and teddy.

I agree with DD. It does not matter how fast you get there. I rushed to get to where I am and I’ve suffered two muscle injuries because of it. Move at a safe, happy pace, always.

Ah, yeah, I was only looking at this weekend starting today (Friday30-Sunday Dec2). Not any other weekends until Jan. That’s okay, maybe I’ll meet a friend at open pole anyway @_@

I guess I’ll try when I get home. Is it also $75?
