So here’s the thing with me about breast cancer, or any other types of cancers; call me a cynic or a pessemist, a “truther”, or even a bitch, but I feel like asking to donate to cancer research is just lining someone’s pockets. Last year (or maybe it was two years ago now?) I read an artical that said, “Canadian scientists cure cancer, no one takes notice.” This artical was mostly fiction– but had a lot of truth in it. So much money goes into supporting (breast) cancer research and clinical trials are so expensive, why would pharmas want to put out a cure for a readily available, reasonable price?
another truth I’d like to point out is that those Canadian scientists made a significant leap in research. No artical I’ve read has even tried to argue that DCA is a step in the right direction. And with little to no side effects! But how many people do you know who know about this study? I know people who’ve had two types of cancer and haven’t heard of it.
I’d really like to believe that writting my local government office will help some woman or man out there struggling with this disease, but there’s corruption everywhere in that chain of research. Local government might actually want to help their people, but companies that produce drugs are, at the end of the day, a business. And what business doesn’t want more money?

Push ups definitely did help me more for aysha, I was just stating that I can do aysha (having a hard time doing it on chrome, though, my bottom hand has negative grip) and other advanced moves without ever being able to do a pull up. In essense, I was agreeing with LB that a pullup isn’t an accurate assesement of overall fitness.
I can do like, tiny tiny tiny pull up motions when attempting (and failing) scissor climbs, and I accept that I will probably never be able to do arms only.

MemberNovember 1, 2012 at 5:01 pm in reply to: Pole: Seeking advice from girls with thick curly/frizzy hairThe aussie hair rescue thing was amazing, and then I had a super moisturizing shampoo and a curl definer….hair was great for two days. This morning it was super dry and I realized I didn’t buy a leave-in conditioner. So I tried th curl definer and some extra virgin olive oil…worst idea.
My hair is moisturized (but not well, more like a soft greasy feeling) in some patches and dry in others. I only used a penny sized amount on 16 inches of hair. A customer told me he’d like to come back and see me–when I’ve washed my hair. He was a fuzz head too, but he’s a guy, he doesn’t have to deal with the length. He was super understanding, it was just awkward and embarassing @_@I’m thinking of the nexxus leave in conditioner. I couldn’t find the garnier one Danielle suggested.

I can't do pull ups. I can't do things like scissor climbs and whatnot, and I've been doing pec and tricep workouts twice weekly for two months with no improvement what so ever, so I'd be relieved to hear that I'm not the only one who just sucks at pull ups. I can do aysha, aerial SM (in princess) and some other advanced moves, but if someone held a gun to my head and said "do ten pull ups or die", it wouldn't be a pretty outcome for me.

I don't have a man (just haven't met the right one yet) but I do have friends with kids and also young family members (second nieces and nephews). I would try bonding with them by maybe inviting them to a showcase at a studio or watching some performances online if there aren't any in your area. You could even make it a family event by getting them into something similar, like hooping or silks. I showed my second niece (she's 9) how to do gemini and she thought it was the prettiest thing ever, so she asked her mom to buy her silk lessons and it's one of the only hobbies that she's stuck to!

MemberOctober 30, 2012 at 9:38 pm in reply to: Pole: Seeking advice from girls with thick curly/frizzy hair@Danielle: That's pretty much what I do. I just don't want the clumps to be there when I'm out of the shower. So I lightly towel dry and then after I've tousled my hair (while it still damp) I lightly go through it with a wide toothed comb.
@Chem I just bought a new power supply like, 5 hours ago @_@ and that's still not the cause of my computer failure. But I was looking at the Aussie 3MM because I heard rave reviews about it on Youtube. Why did you switch to Beyond the Zone, out of curiosity?
From this I gather I just need to buy a really good leave in conditioner, stop washing my hair three times a week, and get a super hair masque. Thanks for all the help you guys :3
Also; @Abcollins I'll definitely check out that flat iron….I'm just almost broke right now, so I don't want to pay a whole lot more than $40 for a flat iron. But I have been using Babyliss's hot rollers for years and I love them! Thanks for the suggestion

Also; I guess I should mention, my hair isn’t super curly since the perm has fallen out….it’s more like Britney Spears from 2000. medium hair crimp/waves?

The entire video is great, but the specific exercize you're looking for is at 5:25. Practice that since it's basically caterpillar from the floor :3

when you say caterpillar, do you mean just the caterpillar or the actual caterpillar climb? I found myself doing the caterpillar after doing what I call crucifix push ups (I don’t know if they have a real name) for about a week. If you can do these, you can do caterpillar. If you cannot, I would try regular or pole push ups. Also, I was able to aerial invert. I naturally have really strong defined legs from tennis, though, so I really can’t say how strong your legs have to be. I really do second chem here– crucifix should be your go-to saftey move before you attempt it.

Pft, I'm going on nine months–we got this!

It's to let the house rest and the joints in your pole rest, or so I've been told. I have had my pole up for 6months and I'm afraid to take it down because I feel like I won't have the motivation/time to put it back up again (I recently started going to a studio and then I go to work, but it might be a good thing since I overwork my muscles anyway.)
P.S: I am ALWAYS looking for pole buddies in the bay area to get down with at open pole at poletential :3

This is awesome and I wish more clothing shops would follow your example. I want to see what the clothing looks like on a real woman and can’t wait to make a purchase from svc based on real women’s bodies.

Today on stage infront of about 40 customers I went from gemini to star –and I somehow pinched my hand in the zipper of my stripper boot. So I sat in “half star” (not quite sitting up into the star) for what felt like 2m. When I finally could sit up into a proper star, the closed knee locked up and instead of going into butterfly I just kinda fell into a ball and almost died.

haha, Veena is so modest. Has a grip named after her, has a climb named aftr her, has a drop named after her –> insists she’s not famous :p

Handstands against the wall really helped me learn how to breathe upsidedown, which is usually a pretty big wall for beginners. Learning how to count your breaths will help you stay in moves longers (because when you're upsidedown time seems to skip by o_O) and whatnot.
