I totally have this pet peeve with myself. The intial step up seems really ugly to me. So I cheat! Let me try to find a video of Jenyne to show what I do.

:30s. I use a split grip lifty thing to put myself ON the pole. It looks impressive, and classy.

Take it slow. I rushed into inverting, and over doing it can cause injury. Then you send more time off the pole. It takes some people a week, some people a month, and some people many months! I was 3 months into pole when I started inverting. But some girls at my studio were consistantly shoulder mounting.

I was thinking about this the other day…I know that I HATE doing anything on my left side. Maybe it would be fun to have a challenge using ONLY your non-dominant side? 😛

I’m having trouble understanding what’s stuck– so I’m going to feel like an idiot if this isn’t what you’re talking about. But one time my pole was stuck even though the hex key unscrewed it or whatever. I took frozen rice and put it around the joint ; heat expands, cold contracts. After about 15m it came out with some help from my mom. Hope this helps!

as long as you’re happy! I remember someone posting about this issue about a month ago. I don’t think it’s that strange, considering breasts are mostly fat. When you build muscle….you know how it goes.

I would say do it as a beginner  I didn't, and am almost entirely self taught. While I learned things more quickly than at a studio, I did not learn safetly, nor did I learn proper basics. So even though I can shoulder mount at six months, it isn't consistent, and I can't do some really basic moves with ease. Learning "in order" will help condition the body for harder things. You have to walk before you can run, not crawl and then run, right?

When you click on "photos" at the top of the page (next to the WECOME SCREENAME, PROFILE, FRIENDS in red) there will be an "add album +" clickable text about half an inch under the "discuss" tab.

I really. Really. Need to get back to posting my challenge 😛

I’m also 5’10” and have actually found getting into moves and mastering moves to be easier. I have a lot of leg to work with for scorpio, gemini looks more pretty, inverted crucifix feels comfortable. being tall does force you to hyper learn certain moves, but that’s never a bad thing as long as you’re safely learning!
I kick my ceiling if I climb and then, so I have to invert from the ground, and caterpillar my way up :p nbd, just a move that I had to condition for and learn a little more quickly than the average poler.

I thought that move was called, “cupid”, but I could also be wrong. My instructor told me that I could achieve this move by having a strong side/crab climb, and learning knee holds. Once you’re comfortable hands free for knee hold, you can keep on hand on the “closed” leg for cupid, if that makes sense.
