You’ve got all your necessities covered. I just wanted to add – get a website https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Also get a waiver for photography too – this will enable you to legally use people pictures on your website. Try to take as many pictures as possible too,
Make some videos of you dancing. Even grab a couple friends and shoot a mock party so that people can see what they are. Also, if you have return clients be sure to send them an email of your new venture and outline what is new and different.
Best wishes!!!!!

She was patient with us and very blunt. I like her as a trainer and have just emailed to set up lessons. Q, you are more than welcome to join me anytime.
The pole there was awful! it was soooo cold and really old so there was little grip. I was working on Shadows signature spin – btw how cool is it that she freely taught it to me??? – and by the time I was there in it I was on the ground.
Q and I also got solicited to work there too!!!!! HAHAH!!!! As soon as we got off the pole a manager of dancers asked us to work there. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif ANd he approached each of us TWICE https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif hahahaa

Classes first https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif
I really think it’s a good idea to take a course and see how you like it before you spend all that money on a pole. Plus if you get a good instructor you’ll have a great foundation to start from. You’ll have good posture a good set of basics and some confidence.

Maddy,
I have taught beginners on spin mode before but yes, many do feel like they don’t want to work in static because it’s so difficult to gain momentum. my theory has been – spin mode to learn the leg position of the spin and static mode to work on momentum and grip. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
You should practice both.

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Triple Threat!!! I love it!
Jen was just over Sunday and made a gorgeous hoop! I made on last night. I am still working with it. I love the isolations I find it’s helped my dance so much and I love it for a quick warm up before pole.
I’ll vid soon when I can do more than 3 tricks. This just doesn’t feel as natural to me as pole did. I can tell where my body is really stiff and it’s slowly beginning to loosen up.
Oddly my bf seems to find hooping sexier than pole!!!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif

I am so glad you got it worked out. I have had a wealth of problems with multi piece poles. I haven’t found a single pole that was just perfect in my eyes.
I have a PS pole stuck together in my car as we speak going from my trunk to my front seat. As a matter of fact over the weekend when I used my car for guests it was quite awkward for them to fit in around the pole and the hula hoop.

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I had a wonderful time meeting you!!!
I hope it’s okay that I update everyone with your progress. But I was so proud of you, You’re not very far away from the X knee (can do it well from the floor) and you are inverting from the floor – so a full invert is not too far away either.
Oh and I have to say how impressed I was that you brought a spotter with you to learn how to spot you properly and safely!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Next time I hope you can stay longer. It was really nice meeting you and I didn’t realize how many other things we had in common.

You know, honestly I love volume 2, there are a few moves on it I still cannot do. There are a lot of things that on there that I would consider intermediate – it goes over inverting, spotting and a few inverted tricks and combos. I’d start there and move to volume 3.
Another great option is the Vertical Dance DVD’s the beginner DVD ends with inverting and the volume 2 picks up with inverting and offers tips and tricks on each and every move and has plenty of moves that will keep you busy awhile.
Both Series are very well done and include great warm ups and cool downs and safety instruction.

I want to jump add that I agree any video longer than one song is annoying! Especially if you’re an awesome pole dancer because it is difficult to pin point specific things you want to show people in the video and you have to wait for it to come up.
Pole Dancing on beat is a bit of annoyance to me because I think dancing with the under current of the song looks much better but that is a personal thing.

Great thread!
Pet Peeves
1- When people truly think they have nailed something and i can’t point out 100 different things about it that are awkward and unsafe.
2- Doing moves but not really polishing them or understanding them
3- sweaty hand wiping – I know I do it too but I really hate to see my hand wiping across my butt before I go into something
4- Not properly balancing an aysha, straight edge, handspring, etc- AGAIN I am so guilty of this it’s not even funny
5- Not switching directions around the pole
6- All tricks and transitions or spins

Hi Everyone! About a week and a half away. Please visit http://www.polefitrevolution.com to register for this class if you haven’t already done so!
This is going to be so wicked and I cannot wait to meet some of you!!!!
Is it just me or is Wendy on some kind of World Pole Tour? She’s been EVERYWHERE lately!

What about working on 3 spins in a combo?
Climbing and different types of climbing? X knee Release, X ankle release? Forearm stand, head stand, handstand?
Even learning to work your spins on a pole in spin mode will build a lot of strength, help with fluidity and build core muscles and it’s a whole new ball game! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_compress.gif
