I’ve fallen out of a CAR that hurt. I was filming myself and the camera shook. I also slipped from a Holly drop which wasn’t too bad because I slowed towards the bottom so there wasn’t a lot of impact.
I did them over and over (and over) with a mat to desensitize the fear and get comfortable again. -
The Amber Starr course is a scam: https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/BEWARE_SCAM_ONLINE_POLE_DANCE_LESSONS__20130319113647

It’s normal for me. In the beginning the soreness would go away in about 3 maybe sometimes even 4 days and then I’d stretch again. Gradually the sore days became less as long as I’d consistently stretch right after the soreness was gone.

Hmm when I’ve used 99% alcohol it seems to make my pole more slippery. I have better grip with 70% rubbing alcohol. My pole is a PS stainless steel though.

You guys should each send Xpole a message to let them know.

@Jane ette Not sure how long you’ve been trying but for myself and a bunch of people I’ve seen who started out really unflexy it took on average 6mnths to a year. For myself I found mixing the 6 weeks routine with Alethea Austin’s stretching for the splits DVD got me to the floor. I also noticed that Valentino brother’s stretch DVD’s and online lessons seem to be highly recommended for splits.

For myself when I learn a new move in addition to not doing it every few days (probably averaging doing it 2 or sometimes maybe 3 times a week) so my muscles can recover I alternate days where I make sure to incorporate the moves that helped strengthen me for the “big one” in the first place.
Example: prior to getting my aerial shoulder mount I was doing a lot of no kick shoulder mounts in freestyle dances and shoulder mount flips during practice. At some point I couldn’t practise for a while and lost my Aerial SM so I started back with the SM flips and No-kick-SM’s and got it back. After a while though a move will start to stick for me and I won’t really need to condition for it with previous moves as much. For example my aerial invert is no longer iffy I can do it really easily even if I haven’t been on the pole for weeks. I don’t even remember what moves I did right before I got it.
You just need to figure out your patterns of practise and rest periouds that work best for your body and also in my opinion make sure your conditioning isn’t neglected so you don’t over exert yourself and are doing your harder moves based on a solid foundation of strength.

I have not tried the substitutes that Chem mentioned but I read they are just as good. There are even recipes online to make it yourself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNuZ6gsVZPI

Also everyone here seems serious about their poling. If family members with objections spent as much time on the site as you they probably wouldn’t be as nervous.
Still, safety precautions are never really a bad idea. I think most pole studios have drop in classes. Maybe you can meet new polers there and go grab a bite afterwards. Then bring them to your house after a few meetings if you mesh well. -

I try not to rely too much on grip aids but when I’m learning a scary move I use itac or firm grip (depending on the trick) to keep me from slipping.
