The person she told this to tried it and replied that it worked.

However I do like to keep it in my practise because it’s a good conditioning move, especially for ayeshas & handsprings. I would say don’t abandon it but maybe it doesn’t need to be your main focus. If you still keep it somewhere in your practise routines as you progress with other moves it will probably feel more stable as you gain more strength. I also didn’t like how it felt when I started learning it.

Here’s something: http://www.bodyjewelleryshop.com/online_store/permanent-tattoo-pen.cfm
I never tried it but the reviews look good -
Veena’s lessons are awesome while I haven’t done her invert program all her conditioning tips I’ve used have been spot on, in addition when I’m iffy on a move pillows and grip aid help me feel secure enough to practise until I am strong and comfortable enough to carry it out.

In the description she wrote the following: “I asked all the students to put together a video of them dancing blindfolded so they can FEEL the pole and they’re body relation to it, helping them to gain better flow”
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen her recommend blindfold practise for floor work also.
Maybe that might be a technique to help rely less on visuals. -
Thanks for sharing Dolce. I’m so sorry to hear the sad news. I just watched her video that Veena posted a link to. She was a beautiful person.

OMG I love this idea! I would die for a nailed it cartwheel mount or handspring.

Ooh Thank you all for the suggestions! I’m excited to get my floorwork on!!

I fell out of a CAR, but I wasn’t doing it properly to begin with, even after learning the right way to do it (thanks Veena!) I was still nervous. So I did it over and over again regularly until I became desensitized to the fear. I also used lots of pillows to start over. It took some time but eventually I got my confidence back.

I use it when I’m practising certain inverts I’m not too great at like handsprings and cartwheel mounts. The grip is very strong so I can’t use it for static pole spins, it’s too sticky and grippy. Maybe a very light spray would make it possible but I love firm grip for training new invert moves.
Also I don’t have sweaty hands so I’m thinking for someone who does, it might loosen the grip enough to be ok for spins. -
Hi Mechie,
Thanks for sharing your experience. I appreciate your Yelp review. When I take a lesson from a well known poler it will only be through a recommendation. I will be avoiding instructors that don’t show regard for students. I hope you keep going forward with your pole journey 🙂 -
I like twerking. I think body isolation moves take skill. If people don’t like it that’s okay with me but I have no idea why they take the time to watch and comment. Most twerk vids clearly say “TWERK” so anyone clicking on something they dislike shows me that they need to find better things to do with their time.
For myself the negative comments reflect more poorly on the commenter than they do on the person they are trying to put down. -
Keep going, It’s ok to progress at a different pace than other people. I was awful when I started and now I can do moves that I thought were almost impossible for me to learn! I think the important thing for someone with pole goals is to be consistent with your practise. Slow and steady wins the race! I don’t know if they have that saying in french but I basically mean don’t focus on catching up with everyone else instead focus on getting into a practise routine regularly and stick with it. For myself that’s always the best way to get results. Also don’t worry about your body shape, just keep working on your goals consistently with enough rest in between for your muscles to recover and you will gradually become stronger and be able to climb and do the other moves you are trying to learn.

Pole is my fave, but chair is also something I’d like to learn more of & Lula pointed out there’s not so many lessons for it which I agree with! So chair gets my vote.
