I've read lots of good things on this site about using drysol for hands. Also I was having slippery times even after getting into intermediate and now have a much better grip in advanced lessons, so it still could be a matter of gaining more strength. If it's not a matter of strength and just sweaty hands than you might need to look through the threads about grip and play with different suggestions to see which one or which combo will work for you. It's pretty frustrating but if you keep trying you'll get it 🙂

Part of the way he takes the news might have to be with the way you deliver it. If you tell him as though you are revealing something shameful your attitude might influence his attitude. I personally mention my poling when the subject of hobbies and pastimes and things like sports come up. For a guy I'm dating I would definitely elaborate on the fitness side of it. If he's lucky and if he's worth it maybe one day down the line he can experience another aspect of pole through me 😉
Of course, there are always going to be some people who see it the way they see it no matter what, but a lot of times you can spread your impression of poling to them and open them up to the way you view it.

Yep it definately gets easier. It's an amazing feeling when you get strong enough to start doing your moves at will in time to the music.

Hi Frowning, There are some free 1 hour yoga classes on youtube if you want to save but improve your yoga skills.
One thing that makes me jealous of you male polers is how much clothes you can wear because of the extra strength in the arms! Like this guy here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roOpKsflY2I&feature=related
For the last few months I've been keeping my eyes on male polers because I had wanted to do a fully clothed masculine type of routine. I think it would be cool to try and mix it up with a bit of break dancing during transition moves.
Bad Azz is one of my favourites I love the casual look in this older vid of his http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOD35SgQFio
I am working on my handsprings too so I wish us both luck 🙂

Oh wait….I remembered this vid of Alena Downs who is wearing pants: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgb6RyO7JIk

@Polariz I see, another thing you can try is to have your mom post her questions and concerns about pole dancing. Maybe interacting with polers who are parents and grandparents and who allow their kids and grandkids access to their poles might reassure her. I also just noticed you asked for fully clothed polers. Unfortunately I don't really know of any but maybe someone else here might.

Well, maybe your mother might like Oona Kivela http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Jx1S7dNQ9c or Veena's vids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsIbIO08jRs&context=C4954d05ADvjVQa1PpcFOFR00l85CcXW1HGIZ3s8eWsvjfwbS7oSc=
Why not suggest you and your mom take up pole together? If she explores the site she will see there are women of all different backgrounds and ages here with various types of pole goals from competing to improving fitness or just loving the dance and wanting to learn for personal growth and enjoyment.
If you will still have to wait until you are 18. You can start stretching in the meantime (not just for splits but back flexibility as well) and working on conditioning your body for strength. Even taking courses in gymnastics and ballet will be very benificial for you pole-wise.

Right now mainly stretching.

I started without a pole at home and managed to progress some on once a week lessons but if I had the drop in option to practise what I had learned I would've liked that.

My heart goes out to the victim's poor family. To add to the info about this guy, I read today that zimmerman seems to have a habit of claiming self defence. An article said that two of his exes accused him of assault on separate occasions and he claimed he needed to defend himself against them attacking him.

MemberMarch 22, 2012 at 12:01 pm in reply to: Whats YOUR Opinion On the Trayvon/Zimmerman StoryI feel Zimmerman should be held accountable. I can't believe that I could run after someone who is unarmed (after being advised by 911 not to pursue them) and shoot and kill them and have law enforcement be okay with it. Also I feel the same about what Diva said about creating a big issue otherwise there would be no justice.

My friend who likes strip clubs likes the shoulder roll and the caterpillar (not the climb version)
