I have a platinum stages pole and I love it. They are a bit more expensive than Xpoles or lil mynx but in my opinion they are worth it. I would recommend that you first figure out what you want in a pole; spinning or Static, 38mm, 45mm or 50mm, stainless steel, chrome, titanium gold, brass or powder coated. Then find the brand(s) that suit your needs and choose from there. It’s alot to think about but totally worth it if you only plan on buying one pole.

My chiro told me that pool noodles work just as well as foam rollers. You can cut them to any size and you can find them for 3$ compared to the 30$ that a foam roller will cost.
Just an idea for anyone who wants the benefits on a budget.

I danced and figure skated when I was younger but I was never able to do the splits. Now I can do the splits on my bad side(I have an injury on my good side that keeps me from even trying ARGH!) So it is possible. My advice would be go to a few yoga classes, take the stretches that are the most painful and do them on a daily basis. Then when those ones get easy do a few more yoga classes and pick new stretches. It took me about a year to get the splits on my bad side, so it can be done. You just have to change up your stretches when you hit a wall.

The Superman was kicking my ass until I discovered that you can get into it from the apprentice. I don’t think Veena has a lesson on here for it but it goes: apprentice, hero, superman. This is the easiest way I’ve found to get into it. If you want a vid let me know, it’s hard to explain without standardized names.

@Phoenix PLEASE post a vid!!! My free hand drives me nuts! I don’t know what to do with it. It seems like such an easy fix that I just can’t figure out!

I am the one who swears by itac2 with tite grip on top. It is AMAZING! ITac can be a bit slippy by itself but when you add tite grip on top it seems to absorb the sweat. I only apply once every 30 mins or so. Different grips/combos work for different people/climates/grip surfaces, but this is the magic combo for me.
Both iTac and Tite Grip will send free samples, so try it before you buy it. But in my personal opinion it’s the shiz. -
If Victoria is anything like Vancouver tats should not really be a big issue. You have to keep in mind that we are alot more laid back in Canada than in some other parts of the world. I say get them where you want them and if you absolutely HAVE to cover them up you’ll find a way.

Regardless of whether or not you post your vids, you will learn something from them. I had never posted anything till a few weeks ago, it helped me see that I am better than I thought I was. There are still things that I need to work on but doing vids helped to identify those things. You are probably better than you think, just give yourself a chance to be great.

I have no personal experience in this area but a friend of mine travels with her pole all the time. If it’s a multi piece, take it on the plane. Depending on how much other baggage you have with you it could be free to take it. If you are planning to move alot of your stuff with a moving co. it will cost about 1$ a pound to move it. But again if you have a multi piece look into taking it on the plane with you. Worst case scenario you have to pay a few extra $ for oversize baggage.

Sweaty pole is a pain in the @ss. I just had it happen to me yesterday. I used iTac lightly and warmed up the pole really well which seemed to help. I think it has more to do with temp/humidity issues than grip surface tho. It sounds like we live in similar climates and have similar issues.
I would suggest looking into Platinum Stages brass pole tho. I have not had good experiences with Xpoles. I have only used the chrome (terrible grip) but overall the pole felt a little flimsy. I was scared to do anything hardcore on it and just yesterday the girl who owns it said it fell down on her. She wasn’t on it at the time (thank god) so I am a little weary of Xpoles. The spin function is not as easy to switch to either. On a PS pole you just pull a pin and poof your spinning. My 2 year old does it for me all the time. On the Xpole I believe there is some screwing/unscrewing involved. Also I did not like the holes all over the pole, I found them quite uncomfortable. All that being said I’ve heard some terrible things about their customer service. I bought mine second hand so I can only say the girl I bought mine from said they were amazing to her. They sent her a free extension when she wasn’t comfortable using it at the max height without one.
I hope you find a pole you are happy with! -
Steel gets grippier with use! We have SS lil mynx at the studio I go to and they are the grippiest poles I’ve ever come across. I have a SS platinum stages pole at home and it is slippery as hell, but with the proper grip aid combo (iTac 2 and Tite Grip) it rocks. I would say don’t sell your pole based on grip surface. If you want a different size, go for it. But I’m sure you can make that lil mynx work.
