I agree with chemgoddes1 !
Ofcourse you are feeling bad about it. You were set up to believe you should be able to do it, in your second class.
I've been poling for 2 years now, and iI spendt most of my first year, learning and perfecting spins, the longest one for me to get, was the chair spin. That didnt happen until last summer 1½ year in my journey. Its a tough one! Please dont feel like you are pitiful or a whimp, because you are not. Your instructor just works in very mystirious ways, and I would actually adress the issue, because not only is this making you feel bad, but its not safe. You mentioned that some of the other girls, you did do the spin, had skin tears on their wrists, that strongly indicates, that thats because they were hanging from the pole, and NOT lifting, like you should. If you are abled to lift with one arm, push away with the other, then your wrist actually dont have contact with the pole.

Im in med school, and most of the women there, are very casual dressed, but many of them complimented my shoes, and I even convinced one of them to buy a pair and try out a poledance class 😀

Doing great spin photos, is tricky because its all about timing. Not only for you, but the photographer as well. You need to be able to hold the spin for at least 2 rounds, and do not go very fast. Then its up to the photographer, to get the focus + angel just right. When I do spins fr shoots, we agree on taking maybe 100+ pictures, and only excpect 5 good ones, however its worth the trouble. And if you find a spin pic, that you just love, but is out of focus, just go with that in the editing. Concert black/back add motion or gaussian blur as a vignette around you, just touching your figure enough to get some more blur on you aswell. Other than that, the best thing is to practice poses and moves before the shoot. Focus on being able to have enough control to not turn around on the pole, when you are doing your trick, because if its a studio shoot, there will be lamps and such, making it difficult for the photographer to move to far, to get the angel right. Another thing is, to show pictures of the moves you want to do (Veena has a great gallary here) because often the photographer doesnt know what you want to do, and they might take the picture at the wrong time and they might not have the equiptment to take several pictures right after eachother, leaving you in the air for a long time, which is not good or save with the warm lights. Remember a towel 🙂

Completely agree with Katana! 🙂 Im too skinny for some moves, and I've let them go 🙂 A poledancer doesnt have to be able to do all the moves in the book, its important to enjoy and perfect the ones that are in your body's reach. Poledacing is for everyone, because it can be so many things. Crazy amzingly athletic, ballet, hiphop, sexy, fitness, dancing around and so on, but most importantly, it should always be fun, so just take a go at it, have some fun with it. Dont rush into any tricks, thats important for everyone, and remember to enjoy that feeling, when you get something you´ve worked on.

I must admit that I dont understand the frustration over poledance and porn and so on.. I respect other opinions ofcourse, but this just doesnt bother me. Im very good friends with a popular danish porn star, and she rocks, and she poledances like a pro 😀 When she dances, she doesnt dance for the athlete aspect, but because it makes her feel sexy, and therefor her style is sexy. She is a sexy poledancing pornstar, and I would love to dance like her. But then again, I dont have to deal with people frowning on poledance. Here in Denmark, people know that this has become very popular as a sport. Im proud to say I poledance, and the responses are always "yeah, that has become sooo popular to do!", "Cool, I wanna try that" "Omg thats soo hard" "Can I try" "can you teach me?" I know thats not the case for everyone, but it makes it very hard for me, to want to take pole away from the strip aspect or porn. I also love the way it is right now, there's athletes, theres sexy dance. I dont want either to push the other out. Besides, if pole wasnt in the stripclubs, before it became popular as a sport, I dont think it would be as empowering as it actually is. It is empowering to dare to be a sexy, dancing woman and still be strong as hell. It would be boring if it was just all about gymnastics. 🙂

Its important that I wash my hands, right before using it, otherwise it doesnt get sticky on my hands, but if I do that, its a winner everytime. I used the gloves with tack for the first year, they were amazing, and lasted the whole year, until I had worne of the tack. Non tack, never worked though.

I just cant do it!! 🙁 And its pretty sad, because normally with prev. nemesis moves I finally can do, I never lost hope that I could do it someday. With the ayesha, I dont think I'll ever get it.. The problem is that Im strong enough, but to scared to do it, because I dont feel like I can hold my balance.. 🙁

I have really thin thighs and a huge gap between them. I cannot for the life of me, do a CAR, but I have no trouble doing leg switches. What I do, is I tilt my wheight. I start with gemini then Sort of like into a reverse teddy, pushing my wheight to one side, then into a pike, still pushing my wheight to one side, making the one thigh push against the pole, and then I go into scorpio. I can do this both fast and slower and it feels secure all the way. You should be able to do it, even though you have beautifull slim legs. Mine are more slim, chicken like, so if I can do it, so can you 🙂
