Well, first off, Im 159 cm, so yes you can do it even if you are short! 🙂 But it does require that you are a reeeeally good poser 🙂 My first shoots, were fashion. 🙂 I dont know how good your friend are at photography, but its important that they are somewhat professional. The more professional, the better. If youre friend is not used to using photoshop, you and him, can send the pics to me, and I'd be happy to edit them for you. For free. Always want to help out a starting model. You can check some of my work in my album here on sv 🙂

Hi 🙂 I've been a model for 4 years now. I have to say, it is hard to make any money, if you want to do fashion/fitness and so on. It took me two years, where I had to do a lot of free shoots, to build up my portfolio. I make money on it now, but it has taken alot of work, so you need to be determined.
I would suggest that you find photographers in your reach, that you like. Send them an email, saying that you wish to build up a portfolio, and that you would like to do it like TFP (nobody pays eachother, you both get pictures for your port) Then when you have some pictures, you can start contacting agencies, if you want. If you want to do it without any agencies, then upload your port to modelmayhem.com deviantart.com and facebook. Facebook has groups for models and photographers, and I myself have gotten quit a few gigs via facebook.
I do have to say, if you want to make money fast in the industry, it is most likely not going to be in fashion or fitness, but in babe/nude, and its important never to be tempted to do that, if you dont really want to. Also remember, when the pics are out (regardless of style) they will never go away. You have to decide if you want your pictures all over the internet. I know it doesnt seem like a hard thing, if you are not doing nudes, but when my fashion pictures started sky rocking, I found myself alittle overwhelmed.
One other important thing, practice. Practice in front of your mirror, doing poses and different faceial exspressions, because the photographer & possible co-models, will most likely not want to work with you again, if they have to pull it out of you.
I hope I havent scared you of or anything, But I know the industry, and I think its best to just be honest. If its the money thats driving and not so much the pictures, then theres a great chance, you'll get disappointed, because those first years, are rough.

MemberDecember 5, 2012 at 4:04 am in reply to: Mighty Grip Pole Dance Fitness GlovesI've had bot the tacky and non-tack. I agree with Charity, the non-tack ones didnt work on my chrome at all, but I LOOOVED my tacky ones! I used them for a whole year, before the tack was worne out. They have an amazing grip. But they are hard (impossible for me) to use for spins on static.
I had sweaty hands at first aswell, so I always used the gloves. When they didnt work anymore, I discovered that my grip had gotten strong enough so that I didnt have to wear gloves anymore. And the sweat in my hands had stopped, because I had gotten better stamina and I was not nervous around the pole anymore, because I started to feel like I knew what I was doing. I definetely recommend them. Just remember, that there sizes are really small. I ordered x-small which usually fit me. They where very thight on my hands, and I should have ordered at leat a small or even a medium. They did exspand over time though 🙂

LillyBilly, do you have synaesthesia? Because I do, and I identify colors by sound.

I just twist my wrist, when I have my arm on my back and then put lotion all over. Only one arm at a time. My doctor says I have hypermobility in my shoulders, arms and knees.. He means that as a bad thing, but all Im thinking is why I dont have it in all of my body. Would be so cool to be a flexible poledancer!! 🙂
-
Debs – Hahaha I can do the same!! My BF always tells me, that I should charge money, when I put sunscreen on my back. People alwaus stare! Do you twist your arms aswell? So that the palm of your hands is facing your back? I've only met one other person who could do this, and she could only do it with the outher back of her hand..
Other than that, I can bend my thumb, so it lays aross my wrist, turn my tonque upside down, I can twist my knee almost all around, which means I can put my foot on my head, even though I cant do splits, shake my right eyeball, I can make tricks with poker jetons.. Im sure there is more…
Also, once I was at this circus workshop with my niece, and I had to try the flying plates for the frist time. I ended up balancing 5 at the same time, in my first try, and the owner actually offered me a job in his circus act. 😀

Im in the oposite situation.. I've had it fairly easy learning tricks (nemesis moves have accured, though) but my focus has always been on flow. By that I mean the lack of flow in my pole journey.. I am too shy to even try! Shy of what I dont know, because it doesnt matter if I have the camera on or not. I've always wanted to be a dancer, but just never thought I could, therefore I have never tried! 🙁
I do have a flexi problem with my legs, but everything else is very hypermobile, so I quess I could get those splits, have better lines, if I just worked concistently on it. But I dont trust myself to just dance, because Im sure it will look bad. When I started poledance, I imeadietly had and idea of the poler I wanted to be. Tricks like Felix, dance and flow like Alethea and ballerina lines like TaraKarina. I still want that today (a few discovered idols has been added though). But Im to afraid to try and work on the dance, flow, and floorwork, even just for myself. The thought alone of uploading a vid, thats not cut in a million pieces, scares the h.. out of me! Even though Im not in a fysical addiction to it, in my mind, its all I think about…
