Lina, I guess it depends on what degree the injury is. For me, I heard the popping sound when it happened . I put ice immediately and I can definitely feel the pain. I have trouble bending down for weeks.

@stickyvic Yes I am fully recovered now. It was devastating because I was not even able to touch my toes. I have done everything I could think of and prayed for recovery
when it just happened. But the reality is I need to pay my debt for not looking after my body. Only about two months back that I notice I can really train my hamstring flexibility again. Because I danced through injury and continued moderate flexibility training, once I resumed full on training, I was able to improve on my flexibility quite quickly within 2 months. Now I am fully recovered (12 months already). I have learnt my lesson and treat my body with so much respect and care! -
Mine was injured while doing Russian splits. I understand completely how you felt. I don’t want to lie … it took me 10 months to get back to where I was. But I kept dancing through injury didn’t let it stop me. Of course I avoided all the super flexi tricks and more focused on strength tricks.
It’s just a phase don’t let it stop you ! Xo -

Amazon, my friend can over for dinner last Friday night. After a few drinks he jumped on the pole. He can already do invert, tuck spin, arm only climb etc at his first attempt . Not fair! Took me months to get to that level.

We stretch together and each other. With the external force I can stretch deeper and can really relax into the position.

It is one of the biggest challenge for me as well. When I started to work on this I was not even remotely close. I started to work on my back with a stretch partner . I progressed so fast with the help. It has only been 4 weeks last night I was able to walk my foot down on my face from behind!! I still can’t believe this. A good stretch partner really makes great difference

I firmly believe people can do anything if they want it badly . So I guess to a large extend it depends on how much you love pole dancing, and how much effort you are willing to put in. 😀
As for me, it has been two years since I started poling. I always feel I am not good enough as with my progression my benchmark also raises. It motivates me to keep improving. -
One of the most talented instructors at my school is 5’10. She stood out from us shorties and is just amazing to watch when she dances. I always tell her that her legs plus heels is my entire body length, lol…

I wish I have read this thread before my previous performances . I almost learnt every lesson the hard way, grip in cold weather, nipple cover, pratice in custume, screwed up something almost in every performance, you name it!

My defined arms and legs. And my boobs! Being Asian I always feel lucky to have good size boobs … 😀

I dont know what this combo is called but to describe : Pencil hold start from dumbby side –> keep holding and spinning turn to your normal invert side–> invert –> butterfly–> upside hand still hold but use your lower hand to grave your free leg from here you can do flag, pole split , knee hold etc etc

I just use good old tiger balm. I use it for almost everything, lol . And the more I pole, the faster my bruises go away. Now naturally within 3-4 days.

I also used to struggle with this issue with my partner. I’m very much into pole and spend a lot of my spare time doing pole related activities. Then I realize everything in life needs a balance, work, hobby , relationship, family…There’s an old chinese saying, translate to English is something like Too much is not good. It takes time to figure out what that balance is like for the two of you. I think if you both care enough for each other, you will figure it out!
