Thanks for the answers! my adjuster cover is stuck at the moment. sigh. So my husband is trying wd-40 to get it loose again so I can tighten those screws.

It is a tough question, trying to boycott these competitions would only divide the community more, they still have friends and other polers that want to participate. Maybe if there is a letter directed to the organizers, with many many signatures from pole dancers, studio owners, etc. asking the key questions, bringing up the all the ethical concerns, asking for clear answers and a transparent competition, maybe they will come forward and work towards fixing these problems? At some point the pole community has to stop taking this organization seriously, they have instructors that work in their studio competing, that right there is a big red flag, the host studio/organization should NOT let their employees enter the competition, that's just not right, at some point the titles given in these competitions have to stop meaning anything.

My confirmed dates are May 18 to May 23. just let me know where we could jam and ill be there. 🙂

Awesome Jenny!! let's make this happen. 🙂

Meaganoff, damn, my tentative dates are May 17 to May 23. 🙁 I just have to get my vacation signed at work so I can book my flight.
We'd just have to find a place to jam because I probably wont be bringing my pole across the pond. maybe a studio in town? and a class with KT Coates would be fantastic.

I agree with many of the posts above, like my post on the blog said, it is just a song! A cheesy, fun for the summer song, it’s nothing to get worked up about in my opinion. I had said it before, you can choose what you want to make of YOUR pole dancing, you can choose to take all the sexy out and never wear high heel shoes, go strictly with tricks, for you, but I can assure you there will be someone who will still ask you if you are a stripper, I personally don’t care, I knew it was going to be this way when I started pole dancing, I knew people were going to raise eyebrows when they see my pole in my living room, if I weren’t ready and up for it then I would’ve switched to pilates or yoga. I, personally think pole dancing is ALWAYS going to be associated to strippers and therefore to the sex industry, it’s a reality, this is how it started, this is how it has always been, when people think “stripper” they think “sex”, this will never change, I will never argue with someone, anyone, until I’m blue in the face about how pole dancing can be perfectly accepted just like jogging for example, I would clarify that I’m not a stripper once, if they believe it good, if they don’t then fine with me too, I would also do it in a matter where I let the person know that there’s nothing wrong with strippers, and in this case, with porn stars, because when you fight them tooth and nail to not be associated with “them”, you are confirming what they thought in the first place, that these kind of women are just horrible human beings and you feel degraded being associated with them, and that is just wrong in my book, there are all kinds of people in this world, good and bad, crack whores and university students, mothers, some of them are strippers and porn stars, some of them are not, just like some porn stars can pole dance and who knows, maybe some pole dancers have been in porn, it’s just the way it is, your pole dancing is personal, you make it your own, what you want it to be, but none of us can deny its ties, to me, we are in many cases, degrading and snubbing the women that gave us the sport, and the women who we now admire and pay to take their workshops by trying to deny and separate completely from them. And to be honest, the people out there listening to this song are most probably not even paying attention to the lyrics or reading into it like that, they are probably thinking “song about porn star dancing, sexy women, looks like a strip club, there’s a pole, shocker, next”. LOL

I so want to come, but I am team "She comes to Toronto". LOL
-
yep, it wont snap, I’ve had mine for over a year, but it’s flexible, I have places to play on bigger and different finishes poles, so it’s been ok , but I am ready to move on to an xpole now, when Amber Richard came here for workshops, she told me my pole is a 38, or really close to a 38, really small, def. NOT a 45 or 1.5 inches no matter what they tell you at Aradia. hahaha, so basically if you decide to buy an Aradia pole, make sure you get the standard 50mm.
-
I own an Aradia brass pole.. I got the “45” because I have small hands, their small poles are not 1.5’s although they advertise them as such, they are smaller, my pole is at about 40, it was not only mine, I met another girl who owns one and it’s the same, super small, this is good for some things but any thigh hold or knee hold hurts 3 times more, add that to being brass and sticky, it is hell on your skin, the 2inch poles are exactly 2 inches, so those are good, the thing with brass is you have to take really good care of it or it just starts to look ugly and stained. Aradia poles are also expensive, I got mine for more than the price of an Xpole when I didn’t know any better, lol, that is a little pricey for an static-only pole, I think you def. Should have a spin option, another thing is they are one piece, this might not be a problem if they are for a studio and you are not planning on moving them a lot.

I am with Sissy, dont get me wrong, I think you are a beautiful dancer, Raquellestarr. I have seen some of your videos and they are amazing, but to say all the other styles where similar…I dont know, that’s not fair, you are saying you thought you were the only one who was going to stand out? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif there are many polers out there with different backgrounds, ballet, lyrical, gymnastics, figure skating, martial arts…..everyone has their own style, I dont know if you dont see it but I do, If some of those girls that got picked were to wear a wig and a custom and dance in low light, I’d still be able to know who it is just by the way they move. It was not your time, you are still awesome, try again next year, I understand you are upset, but many of the one that were picked this time were upset at one time too for being rejected.
