I was planning on following the Veena stretching lessons once a week for two weeks (just to get used to it), then twice a week for a few weeks before upping to three times/every other day. Hopefully I'll see progress with that!

I had a look at the splits in 6 weeks program (http://www.unique-bodyweight-exercises.com/splits.html) but I don't really want to stretch every day at first so might go to that when it's 6 weeks til xmas!

What a great idea! I'd love to meet some fellow Veeners! I'm living in Brum but my parents live in Leeds so it'd be no problem to head north for a pole jam 🙂
Depending how many are interested could always split the cost of hiring a studio for the day/afternoon?

I'm in! I started stretching this week but my progress has been hampered already due to pulling both calf muscles drunkenly jumping up and down and headbanging for several songs in a row on a night out lol!! I can barely walk at the moment!

Ha glitterhips beat me to the Santa Baby suggestion, just goes to show how popular it might end up being!

A little obvious maybe but how about Santa Baby? It's festive yet slow & sultry…there is the risk that someone else might use the same song though I suppose. I quite like this version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXCe0NZm3_k
Or there's Baby its Cold Outside, not quite as slow/sultry but maybe less obvious and could be fun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTNheCEUP_A ?

Sorry if it's not quite what you're looking for, I just got a bit excited about xmas routines!

Ahh ok, quite a tricky situation then… It seems like you're very self-motivated, and if you're making significant progress at home and not in class then maybe stop going for a little while (maybe a month or so?) and see how you get on?
Seeing as you're more advanced than the others you probably wouldn't have a problem catching up to them if you decided to go back to it later on 🙂

Is there a more advanced class you could go to? How are the classes at your studio structured?

It makes me cringe when I see people wearing rings on the pole, it's a pet peeve of mine! My teacher does it all the time and they're her poles so I can't really say anything about it when I see other girls in class doing the same lol
I used to wear my necklace but now I take it off and leave it at home before going to class, but thats because my necklace kept hitting me in the face (and going up my nose https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif) when I inverted.
I always wear my hair up too, can't handle practicing upside down with hair in my face!

I've been tempted to try this for a while but I don't know if I'd catch myself!
Found this video of it on pole dance dictionary too http://poledancedictionary.com/moves/119/hip-lock-drop/

Hi 2little2late! I'm from the UK and the lessons work fine 🙂 it's all done through paypal so it automatically converts to £ and takes it from your bank through paypal – it's super easy to set up & cancel too!

    @Hazelnut – I'm originally from Leeds!

Glad to see so many from the UK here 🙂

GolgothaTramp – I know exactly how you feel about being awkward and gawky! I still feel like I'm flailing my limbs about even when I'm under control lol. Keep us updated with how your group classes go!

Hello! Good to see another UK poler joining the ranks 🙂
Don’t worry about group classes, chances are the other girls will be feeling exactly the same way as you.

If you’re worried about them being more advanced than you then don’t be 🙂 you’ll learn so much more from watching other people and seeing how they get into moves and I’m sure they’d be happy to give you hints and tips from when they first learnt too!

I can vouch for the nike dry fits too! I got the longer style with the small slits on the legs which are great, but I wish I'd got the shorter slightly tighter pair now I'm more advanced

There's a video of Jess Leanne Norris entering this move at about 2:40 in this video if it helps any of you 🙂

Aww what a lovely idea for a thread https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif.

I'm thankful and happy to be young, alive and healthy!

I'm thankful for my family, they mean everything to me

Living with my boyfriend makes me happy (when he's not making me feel like killing him ha!)

Seeing my school friends (we all live in different cities now and hardly ever see each other)

Pole and the rush I get from nailing a new trick/rediscovering an old one

Singing at the top of my lungs when nobody's around https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif especially in the car

Travelling and having fun new experiences (don't get to do as much as I'd like though)

    Rose wine! Yummmmmmmmmmm

My bed (when I have it to myself & can starfish out)

Making friends with cats (My cat died just over a year ago and I can't get one at the moment 'cause of my rental contract, I'm a total crazy cat lady!)

And I'm with dustbunny on this one – Studio Veena!!
