I struggled with the smoking/quitting seesaw for way too long, tried everything you all have mentioned. Now I use the Logic brand electronic cigarette, which delivers nicotine via water vapor with zero products of combustion. I haven’t touched a cigarette since the day I bought a Logic in January. I did gain eight pounds but I lost them quickly by some easy diet modification. Nicotine is only harmful to use while pregnant. For everyone else, it’s a stimulant like caffeine, that can temporarily elevate heart rate and blood pressure. However, I think the Logic has saved my life. My partners on the ambulance all used to be chain smokers like me, and all but one has completely quit cigarettes and only use the Logic. Would it be better to not even use that, and quit nicotine entirely? Perhaps, but I have zero irritability and frankly I really just enjoy using it!

There is a condition called chondromalacia patella, which is a wearing away at the cartilage lining the kneecap, that is painful when pressure is put on a fully extended knee. Though you might try using glucosamine/chondroitin to see if that helps, the condition can’t really be corrected and you may have to keep a slight flex in the knee or not split fully to the floor to avoid the pain.

I really feel for you ladies with these horrible stories. It makes me realize how lucky I am. I generally have very permeable boundaries and tend to share pretty personal things with my coworkers, but both of my jobs employ pretty outrageous types (ambulance and massage therapy) and no one ever blinks at what anyone else says or does. Occasionally I strip too…I started pole because though I’ve been in clubs over the years that had them, I rarely saw girls use them. In my current club there are some jaw-dropping polers who blew my mind and inspired me. So in my “straight” jobs I tell everyone all about it and everyone jokes around and it’s good. My point is that being open hearted and confident brings situations and people to your life that accept your uniqueness and expression. To hide oneself to accommodate the prejudices of others probably invites on some level the situations and people who are ready to be judgmental. Best of luck to all the coming-out polers. You’re awesome!

I am also a beginner and I recently bought and installed a brass one-piece (permanent) pole from PoleDanzer. I knew just enough about finishes to choose brass because out of the few I’ve touched, I only stick to brass. And it’s very grippy. I actually use it with pyjamas on and I stick! It spins like a gyroscope and has a locking mechanism also. My only issue is that even though it’s a short pole (7’3″) it has a slight bow in it. I did my best to install it plumb but it may be off just enough that it bowed, but it’s firmly affixed top and bottom and the performance is not ( yet) affected. I’m not sure why PoleDanzer doesn’t get mentioned here much…I was very happy with the service, thrilled with the pole and the mounts it came with, and while it wasn’t cheap I feel it was a good value. Mine is 50 mm but I’m 5’10 and have strong hands that are not large nor small. Good luck, hope this helps some.

Try a beauty supply store, that’s where I found mine.

Another solution is to sew a circular hair comb inside the edges of the wig. For some stupid reason I cut off all my beautiful long blonde hair a few months ago and now I wear a wig sometimes to remember how it felt to feel pretty. I can headstand with no slipping of the wig with the comb sewn in. I never tried a wig cap.

Thank you for the advice, ladies! Too bad there’s not a shop somewhere that has every option and manufacturer for sampling. It’s an expensive potential mistake to purchase the wrong pole. It’s funny how much one discovers about oneself when trying a totally new physical thing…sweaty hands, physical abilities and unexpected fears, good days when things are easy and bad days where the stuff one accomplished yesterday is suddenly so difficult! It’s a journey for the mind and body…and wallet lol..
