Yeah, people say things without KNOWING who they're speaking to. Totally wrong to call you names, and it just shows thats all they can come up with. And calling it "sleazy" when that video and points were posted and made, how can they still just chime in with a "No its disgusting stripper stuff"? The whole thing is an outrage.

And this is in a bunch of threads and news stories, can't see why we can't discuss the Olympics proposition in one thread…
-
I can't believe she called you a pig either, people are so uninformed, but I think they got served pretty well. And yeah, strip clubs causing divorce? Doubtful, maybe calalyst, but thats not the reason. Everyone would watch the Olympics and get a divorce after watching people sweat and grunt to get into some of these moves!

I noticed it was a different thread, just saying there are more than one, and the one I posted has people on it being just as nasty.

I know right!?!

They're ALL just saying that. One of my friends even compared it to having an eating contest be in the Olympics. His GF is a hooper, and we have so many friends that do Lyra and Silks. I think I'm the only poler in our little RVA PLF group, but I can't believe he can't see the correlation. I wish I could call him out but you can't tag people. I should sic his girlfriend on him for being a moron.

I think I may be posting on this or another share of it. I can't BELIEVE the general public's response to this. They are nuts! I've never encountered anyone calling me a stripper or prostitute, comparing poling to "may as well have fastest typing speed as an Olympic sport". I'm trying not to get angry, these people are just ignorant (as in, uninformed, really uneducated on the subject) And one woman said something about children seeing it and aspiring to be a pole dancer. Why NOT!? Bet they'd eat their vegetables to get strong. Oh its burnin' my biscuits.
I commented before seeing everyone else's comments saying "YES!" and said I was suprised it wasn't already. Everyone keeps saying STRIPPING. Its not STRIPPING in the OLYMPICS!! Just venting cuz I knew my Veenys would understand. So infuriating some of the things people say, I've just never encountered this from people before, ever.

I work at a credit union. I scan papers hehe. Outside of the 8 to 5 I am a hoop dancer/instructor/performer, musician, minister, and crafter. I really am working to kick the 8-5, but I do like the security of full time benefits. I just got a promotion and its my 5 year anniversary here in 2 days. I have been applying for jobs in parks and recreation, but so far, have not found a good fit for me (or they didn't think so :() Thankful that the bills are being paid, just wish I had more time to do what I love. Maybe one day I'll be good enough to be a pole and yoga instructor as well. It would be really cool to learn to teach Barre, Zumba, and Jazzercise lol. In the long run, I want to own a studio with my husband for movement and music and arts of all forms. Rental event space when we aren't teaching ourselves. Just got a very small initial investment to get us started. Going to a business conference to learn more about business side of performance, learning about taxes and what not. Good luck to us all looking to break out!

Doing well so far, sticking to my goals. Eating is my biggest hurdle, I'm eating at a "maintenance" level so its still not bad, but I want to do better. I got the furthest down in my front splits yesterday during flexibility training. Today is a strength training day. Slowly but surely, I am getting better. I am not progressing nearly as quickly with pole moves as many other people. I just yesterday for the first time ever did a crucifix without hands and held it. I still can't seem to do a no handed pole sit, I've been trying for over a year now, and my stomach is always in the way, feeling like if I let go, I'll fall backwards. The lessons say get as high up on the thighs as you can for the clamp, I do that and my tummy is on the pole. I'm also confused because in the lessons, you lean away from the leg crossed on top. SOOO many people lean the other way in their photos, with the crossed knee creating the angle to hold the grip. I don't understand. I'm frustrated, feeling very stressed over everything, but I never give up. I'm going to the studio soon, I reeeeally hope someone in person can help me figure out what is up.

I’m down. Goals: Get rid of 10 lbs (12 would be nice) with a focus on building muscle and getting rid of fat.
Pole at least twice a week
Attend 6 pole classes in the studio
Strength and flexibility training, 3 days a week each.
Eat fresh and natural as much as humanly possible (there will be days, given my schedule, I know this.)
Good luck everybody! Its a flexibility day today!

How bout those pads they use for rolly chairs in the office? or a scrap piece of vinyl/laminate flooring from a local business?

I just turned 26. I have stretch marks on my legs, thighs, hips, stomach, upper arms, and even on my boobs. No kids. Lots of weight ups and downs. Hormonal problems, both with thyroid and PCOS issues. They are what they are. Luckily, most of mine are at least just lighter than my skin, no dark purpley ones. I do have spider veins all over my ankles though and I don't know why. I didn't notice it until very recently. I do think hooping has helped my stretch marks. No creams have though. I've been trying dry brushing for cellulite. Me thinks I should try the treadmill instead LOL!

Drapey silky curtains in whatever color theme you go with. I like the purple thing, but I think I'd take it a bit more burgundy and mix with apricots and golds. I'm just not much of a bubblegummy type. Black lights are always cool. Can we put mirrors in the floor with string lights running out like a spider web from the base of your pole? You could get an LED color pattern, or stick with a solid, or do blinking, racing, then steady pattern of a solid color. If you plan to be showing off for SO/Guests/Visitors, make sure they have somewhere comfy and cool to sit. Expensive, I know, but those high heel lounges are awesome. And you need a place to stash your wipe/alcohol/pole whatevers/other exercise equipment you keep in pole room like yoga mat etc. And maybe a coat rack or swivel for shoes and clothes. http://www.lovesac.com/sacs/pillowsac.html Yes, definitely hardwood or vinyl/laminate floors. You can get nice hardwood looking laminates that are replaceable when your heels scratch them up. Uh… Disco ball? Lava lamp? What kinduh budget do we have here cuz I could go super pimp with this lol.

Uh oh! Well, if you used a permenant dye, it stripped your hair of color and deposited new color in its place. To go lighter, you have to remove those color pigments, which will leave your hair in a pretty much non-pigment state AKA orangey red hair. This requires a color remover, not just bleaching or a new box of whatever blonde you want. After taking the color out, then, you can bleach the crap out of it, risking damage and linen texture hair, but it will do the job. Protein fillers and deep conditioners will help along your journey.
I know you don't want to go to a salon, but they'd really be better on your hair and more able to assist. If you do your color lift wrong, and leave your hair very pourous, and use a box dye of say "Medium Ashe Blonde" your hair will go right back to a grey brown.
Just go to a salon if at all possible. You REALLY don't wanna do this at home. I did this a few times actually, going up and down the color scale. I'm pretty good at coloring, but it got to a point, it was unmanageable, and wouldn't hold any color, just a washed out strawberry blonde. I cut it Jamie Lee Curtis short and started over. My hair is a dark brown now, and I'm examining my options. I want to go back to my bright orange, but I know what it would take for my hair to do that. I'm tempted to go reeeeeally short again and let my natural hair out for the first time since I was 12. I'm also tempted to just keep letting it grow, roots and all, and see if the sun will eventually even out and blend the line for me, enough so I don't have to get rid of the length. I might WANT to get rid of the length. I just don't know what to do with mine LOL!
