    Hey Tammy,

I’ve had a similar backpain the first few months of inverting.
I was wondering, after an invert, do you slide down (inverted), or do you keep your hands where they are and just flip your body down and put your feet on the ground? Because that last method, is what caused the pain for me. I got rid of it by building both my abdominal and back muscles and by relieving my back by cutting a bit back on inverts, and sliding down from them (instead of dropping my feet to the floor).

Anyway, best of luck! I hope you’ll be pain free soon!

There are definitely some things you can do to improve the situation. Putting on the heating beforehand and warming your pole up with spins is a good start. (If getting the pole warm gets too difficult, you could use e.g. a blowdryer to help warming it). Next thing is to make sure you’re body is warmed up properly. Maybe extend your usual warming-up a little, and use sweatpants, legwarmers, etc. to help the warming-up. Then the final thing: moisturize! After all, dry skin doesn’t stick. Be sure though, that you do it far enough in advance. Getting on the pole within a few hours of using creams/lotions can be very dangerous!! I know some girls moisturize in the morning, and then pole in the evening, which with the right lotion can be done safely. I only use lotions on non-poling days, just to be on the safe side.

    Good luck!

I’ve had a middle-lip-labret for eight years now, and I don’t consider myself the goth/grudgy type. But then again, I might be the exception https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif . Anyway, I love the symmetry of having it in the middle. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Started classes almost a year and a half ago. Was 24 at the time, just turned 26. Still wish I’d discovered it earlier though, it’s the perfect activity for me!

Also, Redke71 has made a few vids which list moves according to level.
    (Beginner: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8PLPi0M8bM;
    Beginner-Intermediate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCMWELvogf4 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC19xBqfeYk; and
    Intermediate-Advanced: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CMxuL-e4Xo.

http://www.wikipole.org can also be a great source of inspiration.

I always take a list of moves to my practices, so when I don’t know which move to practice next, I have a reminder of the possibilities.

    Have fun!!

    Cute drawing https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Yes, Star and Cupid are the most common names for the move.

BTW, at wikipole.org you can browse pictures of moves (choose Pole Move Picture Directory on the front page). For more info about the move you click on the name of the move. Loads of fun on a rainy afternoon https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

It’s doable for sure. I practice on 38mm poles, but they don’t reach all the way to the ceiling and both SM and superman are my nemeses. But I have seen some of the girls I practice with do very pretty SMs and supermans on them. If you have difficulties getting enough leg grip, you could try tilting your pelvis and legs a bit, so you have more skin contact with the legs. Good luck!!!

Haha, yep, I read about the humptydumpty correction on a Dutch news forum last month. Crazy, isn’t it?!! As if all the kids since 1803 who grew up with the original version were all scarred for life https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

    Hey Az,
I use chalk occasionally. I can do most of my practice without it, but it’s nice to have as a last resort. Especially for twisted grip and iguana mount practice on ‘slippery days’. I can do both without chalk, but sometimes it just feels a little more safe with the chalk, when I’m not sure if my hands have enough grip to stay up. I try to use as little as possible (both in amount and in occasions), for exactly the reason you mentioned of not wanting to have to rely on grip aids. I have no experience with mighty grip, btw, just the chalk. All I can say is that it works for me. But only for practicing individual moves/combos, I don’t like chalk on my hands when I do spins (except maybe on hot summerdays, those are very different https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif ). And I don’t like that the chalk gets smeared all over the pole, so when I use it I wipe the pole a lot.
Wow, that was quite a rant. I hope it helps you.
    Best of luck!
    xx E

October 29, 2009 at 8:28 am in reply to: Fake Xpole?

A while ago X-pole sent out an official e-mail to warn the public about fake X-poles.
    This is what they wrote:

    PLEASE PASS THIS ON……..

    Fake X-poles

As some may have heard there have been some Fake X-Poles on the market, these have come from EBay, We have one of these fake X-Poles here and they are very dangerous. We are in the process of dealing with this. We have had them removed from eBay and are now taking action to have this stopped and to help protect the safety of all the dancers. If your student has bought a pole from ebay for less than £159.99 the likeliness that this is fake is very high.
The main ways to know if the pole is fake is :

    1) The upper dome is made of plastic, it has black rubber around it and the silver section is very thin plastic. ( this will crack on pressure being applied)
    2) The base is not articulating.
    3) The base does not have our little X’s on them.
    4) The joints are not welded together therefore they will come out and the pole will just be a tube.
    5) The instructions are a photo copy and the DVD is also a bad copy.
    6) There are only 2 ball bearings – this means the pole will not spin under pressure.

If your customer has bought one of these poles they will not be covered for any injuries caused to them selves or to their property, They can not exchange the pole and Vertical Leisure will not be able to replace any faulty parts.

If you do have a customer complaint regarding an X-Pole which has been bought from eBay or not from yourselves please ask them for there serial number which will be on the upper dome. Ask them if the base has the X’s on them ect and check the pole. If this is a Fake I would recommend that they get a full refund via PayPal and send the pole back to who they bought it from.

If any school / company / person is found selling Fake X-poles we will not only take legal action (already pending with one company ) we will also not supply them with Real X-poles, X-stages or any product from Vertical Leisure.

Should one of these fake poles fail and someone is hurt this will reflect on the whole pole dance industry. Remember the negative reaction to dance poles in Tesco’s imagine what would happen if someone was to harm them selves on one of these. Everyone’s hard work over the past few years would be lost. We are not just concerned for our product but as a dancer myself am concerned for the future of pole dancing itself with rubbish such as this on the market.

X-POLE is a quality brand and we do not want our customers confusing this rip-off version with the quality and safety associated with genuine X-POLE products

If you have already been approached by a company offering CHEAP X-poles please be aware of the above information. To help us have this stopped please try and get as much information as possible regarding the company/person trying to sell these to you. The more information we get the better. If you are approached to commence selling the new imitations, please gather as much information about the poles and the distributors as possible. Written or emailed information is best.

Be very suspicious if the distributor wont leave you with a sample to test, if they wont let you personally assemble & play with the product/parts, or if they don’t leave you with any tangible information (e.g. brochures detailing the product and / or its assembly).
Ask about replacement parts, warranties and insurance.
