I use alcohol,  "surface disinfection", or whatever I should translate it into(from swedish), on my chrome. Metholated spirits I guess it's called. Ok, good to hear I can use that on my new pole 🙂

Yes I've heard that the x-pole brass has a brushed finish and that other brass poles have high polished. And I agree, what's the point if the finish doesn't give you what yo want in a brass pole.

You say that the tg pieces on yours feel more like brass than the actual brass pieces.. would you consider the x-pole brass to be less grippy than their titanium gold pole?

And if so, is it still grippier than their chrome pole?

No, the poles at the studio are real, genuine X-poles. My home-pole as well.

Yes I have considered getting my own chrome powder coated. Turns out there's a powder coating company in this city! On their website they're saying that they have a wide range colors, shines and structures. But.. how do I know what's the exact right "shine"? I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking. I just want the right kind of powder coating. Maybe they know what to do. Haven't talked to them yet. And I kind of want to keep using my chrome too, as long as I don't react to it. So I'm not sure yet.

I don't sweat much, and I tend to have dry legs in the winter. But since dry skin can be a grip issue I try to keep my legs moisturised. Pole-friendly moisture, like "Pole Physics" lotion. Is it the x-poles brass you've tried, or some other brand?

There aren't really any other studios near by. There are studios in other cities, but I don't know if they use brass, I could ask. But if that's the case it's x-pole's brass for sure. The aren't any other pole webshops/distributors in Sweden that sell any other brand than x-pole.

We have x-poles in our studio. And maybe I should have put it in another way.. I didn't mean that it actually wears off, I just mean that as the poles get more "worn in" and have been used a lot, the nickel starts to appear more(and not visibly of course).

The reason I know this is because I have nickel tested my own chrome pole at home, the  x-pole chrome poles at the studio, and the x-pole titanium gold at the studio. It's a chemo nickel spot test that I bought at a pharmacy. It's for testing if metal objects contain nickel. And the result was:

-It did not discover nickel on my chrome pole at home(which haven't been used very long)

-It did discover nickel on both the titanium gold and the chromes at the studio.

I have not heard "nickel rumours" from any pole company. Iv'e come to this conclusion by this nickel test, by discussing with other polers and I also know that I am that hypersensitive to nickel, which I have known since I was 8 years old.

And sure, it can be chrome allergy to, Iv'e read about that, but that doesn't rule out that the x-poles do contain nickel and that I am allergic to it. Also, I use the exact same cleaners and body grip products at home, that we use in the studio. So it's not that, it's the poles.

So I'd like to think of it as more of a FACT than a rumor…

What?!  I thought it was solid brass, beause I once emailed x-pole in australia and asked them about that.

This is what I asked: "Are the brass poles solid brass, or is it just some kind of brass coating and some other metal underneath?"

This is the answer I got: "They are brass. Light soft metal. So yes solid brass."

How do you know for sure it's just a coating?

I have nickel allergy and when the poles have been used for some time the nickel starts to appear, and that goes for both the chrome and the titanium gold. And I thought since the brass would be solid brass, it would be alright.

I can still use my chrome at home, but not the poles in class. My instructor was thinking about getting a brass when they have them in stock in the UK(I live in Sweden), but if it's going to be the same nickel-problem with the brass it wouldn't be much use getting one. So then the only alternatives would be a colored Lil' Mynx pole. Or a stainless steel, but I've heard they're very slippery…

You're so lucky to live in Australia!  I live in Sweden and been waiting for ages for x-pole in the u.k. to get the brass in stock. They were suppose to get them this spring, but nothing's happened yet..

I once mailed x-pole.co.uk and asked about the finish. They replied that the x-pole brass is solid brass, not just a brass coating 🙂

However, I've heard that the brass needs to be cleaned a lot more, maybe with some kind of brass cleaning. X-pole should know 🙂
