Alethea Austin is the "beloved" that set the first stone down on my pole journey. She was the 1st video i fell in love with and even though we have different styles I still adore her every move.
{I even have a shoe signed by her}The person that keeps me going though…. is my teacher, Lucy.
I admire her something fierce. She's seen my worse, my best and everything inbetween. She's knows how much passion i have for it and we both learn so much from each other. Without her none of this would be possible and i owe her so much for it. -
As stated in the 2nd sentence, finding another teacher is not an option. She is the only teacher in the area and i'm thankful to have her. Without our style differences we actually get along really well. Doesn't help we're both Libras.
No pole at home to do Skype with. I won't have one till after Xmas and even then it will be a while since the room is a garage room full of dirt, concrete and storage. Believe me, if i had a pole here i probably wouldn't have this issue and i would be skyping like mad.
Skittles? If she is who i think she is, she's just as slow and melodic as my teacher. I need someone like Pink Puma! lol. -
As AdAstra says, BE CAREFUL. This is not good pain to have.
I did that to myself as well back in my 2nd month of pole. It originally started when got over bold with my new found strength, did a wrist sit and instantly felt that jolt of bad pain in my wrist. Thinking nothing of it, i did it over and over again as well as split grips. Every time the pain got worse. One day the pain shot to my elbow and it was obvious to my teacher, who then yelled at me and told me to stop cause i obviously am not using the proper muscles to execute whatever i was attempting. To this day my wrist aches when i place to much pressure on it and i have to wear a strength wrap every class.
I've been told by the ladies on here, as well as my teacher who ironically did the same thing back when she started, that its misuse of the muscles that causes the pain. Your not strong enough nor engaging the proper muscles thus putting to much weight on a very tiny unready part of your body. Take a break. Don't push past it and think it'll go away cause it won't. It'll remind you every time. Learn proper technique rather then risk tendonitis or worse hindering injuries.

As someone who use to get dizzy/motion sick really easy, you will build a tolerance to it.
I use to squeal and jump off the moment i felt no control or that i was going to spin myself sick. I hated the overall feel of a spinning pole to be honest. But now after close to 2 months of it, i only hesitate at first spin and then it doesn't bother me. It amazing how the body just falls into place after a while. In words of the beloved Alethea … "push past".. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif{Saphyre, amazing tips by the way!}

Physically, no. But then again i'm not a fighter and the only punch i've ever had to throw was in 1st grade {the boy deserved it}. My right arm is a beast though so i'm sure it has more strength behind it then it did prior to pole. lol.
Emotionally though, very much so. I stood up to my parents about my hobby with strong convictions and i'm not a "shrinking violet" when people make comments about it. Its the power of passion, you'll fight to protect it.

I got a lot of good ideas from this video:

I guess a part of me "premonition-ed" that i would pole dance one day cause i use to have pole dance dreams long before the studio i go to was created. Although they were "strip-esk" related, i can still picture the place in detail to this day. Stage, pole, lights, people…all of it.
Now i have maybe spots of pole oriented dreams. Like last night i dreamt i was in a hippie store and they had a pole. I asked a gothic-y looking guy why they never use it and he said he can only use for something {selling to?} about customers. Really weird. But yeah, its a lot better then my reoccurring dancer dreams. Haven't had the "go on stage and not no a damn thing" dream in a long while since pole. -
….If your Ipod little note thingy has random list of pole jargon that no one understands.
I.E: Peter pan to reverse to chair, chair straight to reverse straight to wrap, and etc.
{I'm a spinning combo kick obviously} -

I get pole burn on my wrist every time i do spins so i bring a wrist band or strength wrap. I also get the same thigh burn. Its just sensitive skin areas. It happens to everyone. You build tolerance over time just like bruising.

When do they usually pick the winner for the week?

Athena30 is correct. Go to Stripperweb. All your answers are there and then some.

My teacher is! She also got the last spot for one of Alethea's workshops. She's so stinkin lucky.
{Sadly i'm too broke to do such things. But she's taking my shoe to get signed by Alethea so i can't complain.}
