I have Alethea Austin's Floorwork DVD and its not only awesome to watch but really good at teaching you that slinky flexy sexy floorwork she does….or achieve something like it.
{Cause lets face it that women is like a floorworking unicorn. lol.} -
Its funny how when you actually start pole dancing how quickly your views on it change. Especially watching videos of it. You go from "Wow, that looks so effortless and pretty" to "OMG, how does she hold on like that while doing that AND spinning?!". You can almost feel the pain coming from the screen cause you know exactly what pressure points are being used and abused. lol. I personally love the abuse. Bruises make me smile and that dull "you worked hard" pain makes me feel alive and totally worth it.
what do you do on your rest days?
~ I only have class Fridays & Saturdays; no pole at home. So during the week i didn't really do anything. Recently my teacher really started to really focus on flexibility and splits so now I stretch daily, even if its just like a quick warm up that i remembered from class. If I go to the park where there is a firemans pole I'll climb up it with just my arms or practice just inverting myself. But i never feel i NEED to do this. I do it mainly when i have nothing better to do. If i had a pole at home it would be a whole other story. I'd go until i'm passed out. lol.Do you still do some exercises?
~ Like I said above, depends on motivation. I'll do some split stretching or give a small work out a try. I found a nice app for my IPod that has some good simple workouts. I also have Alethea's floorwork DVD but I have yet to really try it. Some days I just dance around my kitchen while cleaning. lol. Any activity is good activity to me!What exactly am I supposed to avoid on rest days?
Try to give serious ache-y parts a break. Listen to your body. Work on only certain areas at a time. I hurt my forearm/wrist doing a V hold and being stubborn i worked on it again the next day. Yeah, don't do that! Your body will let you know what not to do. Push too hard and your body will push back and it sucks. -
Why oh why don't i have a pole at home!!! Curses!
I would totally do this one! Not that I have CATS memorized or anything….lol. -
What are you hoping to get for them? Link?

I'm absolutely obsessed with Alethea Austin.
Oona blows my mind.
Chloe the Hurricane rocks my world.
And last but not least, all you lovely ladies on SV! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif -
I had that pain last night after pole class!!
We started doing planks, laybacks and V legs again & my poor little wrist/forearm freaked out. Its been 2 weeks since I've done any pole so my body was already pre-pissed off. Isn't it the worst pain ever? Luckily its my left so I didn't have to use it much after. When i got home i iced the crap out of it and now its not to bad. Throbs when i put pressure on it but not nearly as bad as it was in class. Thanks for the video Dirty Girl!

Hi. I'm Little Engine and I'm a pole addict.
{{Hi Little Engine}}My first hit was many moons ago when i saw my 1st strip performance done by a insanely beautiful women named Essence. She performed like no other and it always struck a cord in me. Not necessarily to become an exotic dancer but the performance and skill of pole-ing. But sadly there was no class dealers to be found in the area so I naturally lost interest.
Fast forward to this year and 3 months ago, I was on random new hobby search when I found pole fitness being offered at a local Yoga & Pilates Studio. I immediately signed up, met my pole pimp Lucy and I've been going to class once a week ever since.
3 months in and Level 2 later……I pole at parks, wear Alethea's hoodie and watch WAY to many pole videos on here and YouTube. I can't go a week without class or I get insanely moody. I tend to talk about it excessively and am usually riddled in bruises. I plan on getting my own pole and setting up a garage pole room come Xmas.
Its a powerful drug man. Lol.If I could give one piece of advise it would be prepare for the "dark cloud". Also known as bad pole days. Where nothing goes right, your body is just not working, and you end up feeling hopeless. I've had plenty. Whatever you do, DO NOT GIVE UP. That horrible cloud passes! Brush it off and try again tommorow. And take your time! No need to get all upside down and crazy. Simply enjoy the ride.

We have both 45mm and 50mm in class. I always pole on the 50mm pole.
I'm slender with long fingers so i need all the girth I can get to hold on.
{Wow that sounded dirty! } -
Well, that girl is getting a lot of attention now! Her videos were reposted like 3 times from other pole communities with rave reviews.
You know your good when Alethea Austin says this about ya on her facebook page:
"I was NOT PREPARED for this Girl to take the stage…..A Must See 😉 "If i was Charlee I would be peeing my shorts.

I'm someone who's suffered with "car sickness" all their life. I have to up front or its barf city. Forget boats or buses. I don't even go on amusement rides anymore cause its just not worth that feeling.
For pole, I do get dizzy but i learned one trick that kind of helped….. Unspin yourself.
Yes, its silly but it works to calm the jolting affect. Simply rotate the opposite way of which you spun and it levels out your equilibrium somehow. Maybe its a mind trick but i haven't gotten nauseous since i learned to do this often.
I also wear an wrist band on my one wrist. Not sure if its the same thing as the motion sickness wrist bands but it has the same feeling to me.Now for actual spinning poles, no. Simple no. I will never ever touch one. Simple as that.

Level 1 is full of one time wonders & curious guests. Level 2 is all the dedicated people, like myself, who either pole at home or come in every week. So it was when i moved to level 2 last month is when it sunk in. I'm in for the long haul and will fully admit I'm an addict to pole. I wear Alethea's hoodie everywhere, i pole at the park, on here excessively and I'm a wicked mess if i don't have class that week. lol. Is there a 12 step program? -
I take off my engagement ring every class and put it in a special pocket of my purse. I don't want to scratch the pole and it clings when i spin.
As for that callus on the middle finger, i get it every time i play at the park cause the fireman poles are rough OR if we do a lot of spins in class. Eventually it kind of just gets rough and use to the abuse like the rest of the body.

That was amazing!
I like her style. She reminds me of a cheerleader-y Oona. -
I have one pole outfit and it all came from Forever21's activewear section.
White tank top, grey sports bra and black with white fold over athletic shorts.
It fits me like a glove and easy to layer over yet keeps me cool. -

No one else in class has a pair, although the teacher offers hers, no one takes them. She tends to use them for when she wants to make videos or take pictures. We mainly dance barefoot. So I cant really say if I prefer one over the other just yet. I'm aiming to get a nice new pair. Perhaps they'll look better on me and I'll be more prone to wear them.
