I have a couple of stretching videos up if you want to look at them for some basic starting stretches. The main thing is to do it after you are very warm, you won’t make much progress if you’re stretching cold. Keep at it!

Not sure about the calcium thing, don’t know how that would help relax the muscles or reduce the inflammation in the joint but pain killers/anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants, massage therapy, and a night guard fixed it for me!

I have TMJ (temporomandibular joint syndrome) and it caused me to have great pain in my jaw and I was unable to open or close very much, could not eat anything hard even bread with crust, etc.

Maybe it’s something like that? Seems more likely than tetanus…but I don’t know. I think you should go see a dentist. For me it occured when I was very stressed and the muscles in my jaw just got so tight. I was referred by my dentist to a specialist and he gave me anti-inflamatories which relieved the pain and muscle relaxers to ease the tightness. I was given some excercises to do and did massage therapy and it is completely gone now.

Do you know if you grind your teeth at night? The fact that you woke up with it is a telltale sign…That is apparently what caused mine. If so, they can make a night guard for you that will protect your teeth and keep you jaw form locking like that at night. Don’t buy the premade ones at the store though, they won’t fit your teeth/jaw correctly and can cause more trouble.

Anyway, I don’t know if this will help but just thought I should let you know since I’ve had a similar experience. Hope you feel better soon!

I believe it was high school age, not college age. They refer to schools differently in the UK…

Personally, I understand how some parents would feel apprehensive. High school kids are full of hormones, there is no way those boys are not going to see it as a sexual thing and the girls at that age are way too craved for attention, and…well, all I’m saying is I can see the worry. In college, now that is a different story, at that age you are on your own!

Pole dancing is new and it will take time for it to be recognized from a sports perspective. Putting on a show at a high school might not have been the best idea and she COULD have made it more sporty and more clothed. I think these people do a great job of really representing the sport aspect of pole dancing:

Now don’t get me wrong, I love the sensual aspect of pole dancing but we have to consider our audience and recognize that we are going to have to sell the fitness aspect before we get recognition. Just my thought on this…

It’s hard to see in Kelly Kayne’s video but she is essentially starting with a nose breaker and then performing a shoulder dismount from there. She does it very fast and smooth and from a scrunched up inverted crucifix for added effect! Sarah Cretul did the same move in her number for USPDF, you can see it in this highlights video at 1:56 :

You’ll need to get comfortable with both the nose breaker slide down and the shoulder dismount to give it a go!

OK, I HAVE to reply to this.

    1. You’re f*^#*ing HOT! Your body is UNREAL with 4, cout’em, 4 KIDS!
    2. You are an AMAZING dancer, coulda shoulda woulda been a ballerina, and I’ve told you that many times before.
    3. I would NEVER have thought you were above 25 years old, and BESIDES, 31 is not old!

This a##hole clearly has issues with women and no life and has nothing better to do with his miserable little brain than to put others down who he KNOWS are WAAAAY out of his league in an effort to make himself feel slightly less like a measley, ugly, and aging D)*^@)BAG. Now hand over his screenname so I can blast at his insecurities on his page (shouldn’t be too freaking hard, screams of mommy issues!).

People like that make me SO MAD, and I’m "intimidating" when I’m in a good mood. This guy would cower in shame and fear right now if I could find him. What a low life form…

Neke! Add me on youtube! I’m fleurthefrenchcat. I also port all my "sexy" vids on private on youtube but I figure people who have signed on Veena’s site are pretty serious about pole dancing and will respect my videos…I hope!

We call this "pole fear" at my studio, don’t worry, the more you do it, the more confortable you will get with the pole and the sensation of falling around it. Just takes practice! Also, try doinga back spin, some people don’t like to fall forward but if you have them going backward, the spin right away!
