I’m not happy with my ssa either! According to their website, they have come up with a "thicker shaft base for improved stability" Wonder if they’ll replace our current poles/bases with the new ones https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I highly doubt it, but I’m gonna call and ask anyway. My ssa pole leans so bad and is so unstable, I’m embarrassed to take in out in public for demos!

Like chemgoddess said ~ It probably has something to do with the polishing of the stainless when the pole was made. My (permanently mounted) 2" is fine. My star stand alone (1.75) and my other permanently mounted 1.75 are both really slippery. Guess I’ll have to break down and use some grip enhancer!

I’m pretty sure you can only get Platinum Stages poles through them. I have 3 poles from Platinum Stages ~ I had a good experience with them ~ They did cut one of my poles too long, but I called them and they took care of it right away. I prefer stainless steel too. Brass is too sticky for me!

I’ve heard lots of good things about them. I will probably go through them for my next pole!

Have you thought about trying a brass pole? Sorry to hear about your problems with Platinum Stages ~ I get my poles from them and have had pretty good luck https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
Are you able to permanently mount a pole? One piece poles are really the best the way to go ~ In my opinion.

I have 16 years of pole dance experience and have been teaching for the last 3 years. I also hold certs in personal training and group ex and own my own studio. I know I could probably benefit from a "formal" class, but I don’t have the time to invest as I would have to do some traveling to get to one! that one looks very sketchy to me. crucial information is "coming soon"– doesn’t have any mention of who is behind the PDIC… but yet the paypal links for course cost and advertising seem to be fine.

I must say, I am impressed with the the certification courses mentioned so far!!! They all sound very comprehensive and well thought-out! Unfortunately, I’m in Wisconsin and don’t see myself traveling any time soon…

I thought this would be a good idea as there are certain issues studio owners face that the general poling population does not. Also, it would be nice to have all the owners in one place for networking and referral purposes. I often get people from various locations that are interested in my classes, but live too far away from my studio ~ It would be nice to be able to refer them to a pole studio near them. I also get emails from women in other states asking me if there is a studio near them (not sure how they come across my site, but whatever https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif ) Another referral opportunity!
I’m not trying to exclude anyone by having an owners forum ~ It just makes sense to me to have one "go to" place for studio owners (and those thinking about opening their own studio) to discuss business related issues and networking opportunities. Yes polebunny, the "everything else pole related" category is an option and I will probably be posting owner related issues there as well as foxxy’s FB page! Thanks for all your input ladies! I too have multiple poles in varying sizes and materials ~ the smallest being 38mm. It’s great having a smaller pole to practice on, especially if you have smaller hands. I have one brass pole that I don’t use very often b/c it really tears up my hands https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif
The poles in my studio are stainless steel from PS. I also have the Star Sand Alone but am seriously considering replacing it with the X Stage https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
I think it’s a great idea to have a few different poles around~ If you can afford it! -
As a studio owner ~ I feel it’s VERY important to shop around for pole classes! One of the most important things to look at is the instructor to student ratio. Steer clear of studios that offer large classes with only one instructor ~ Even if you are advanced! I don’t care who you are, there is no way an instructor can effectively watch 10 women on 10 different poles. It’s just not safe. Pole classes should not be treated like any other run-of-the-mill fitness or dance class. Care must ALWAYS be taken by the instructor(s) to ensure proper form and technique. When it comes to pole studios, bigger is not always better! I learned to pole dance 17 years ago from a good friend of mine who was a stripper ~ There were no such thing as "pole studios" back then. If it wouldn’t have been for the one-on-one attention I got from her, I don’t think I would have been able to properly learn the moves. Pole dance classes need to be taken seriously and safety should be the number one concern for studio owners ~ This is not always the case with what I call "McPole" studios who’s main concern is making money and getting as many people into a class as possible. Shop around a bit and you’ll soon be able to recognize the aforementioned "McPole" studios.

Hello Wisconsin girls! I live in Edgerton and own a small Pole and Yoga studio. We have an "Open Pole" night once a month and we also take our pole to a little bar here in town on Wednesday nights ~ We’d love to have you come out and join us sometime!

Broke in half!!!! Wow – That’s terrible! The only problem I’ve ever had with them, is that they cut one of my poles too long! They were really good about taking care of the problem though. In my studio I use the permanently mounted static/spin (both 45mm and 50mm) poles and haven’t had any problems with them. I also use a Star Stand Alone for our "outings" ~ It’s ‘okay’, I’m not 100% satisfied with it. I totally agree with verucablue, permanent poles are the best/safest way to go for a studio! I suppose whichever company you decide to go through for your poles, you’ll find a complaint or two!
