I stretch this one on the regular for flexibility. I’ve got a long way to go, but I want to put a foot behind my head.

Day 3. Not sure I’ll ever be able to bind this one through the leg. Love the twisty spine stretch though.

Incredible. I’m going to share this with my husband. He had shoulder surgery many years ago and he took up fly fishing to rehab his shoulder then. He grew up skiing and snowboarding and really messed his shoulders up bad from all the falling and popping in and out of socket. He says he should really have surgery on the other shoulder too. I suspect it will start bothering him more as he gets older.

I’m really enjoying all the pole inspiration on IG. I’ve found a few of you Veeners already. I am freddiedancer.

I am reminded of this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt that I’ve always liked.

Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway. You’ll be damned if you do and damned of you don’t.

Oh Lord. I’ve been wondering this myself. My approach as a beginner has been complete transparency. I knew that if I was trying to hide it, I probably wouldn’t stick with it. I have shared my dances on Facebook. My FB friends seemed very supportive the first time, but they were silent after that. Plus, there is a whole other layer when you have a child who loves to play on it. My husband shared a video on FB of our son spinning with a huge smile on his face. Some dummy friend of his made a stripper joke about it. Peoples reactions to my pole generally make me feel misunderstood, but I am determined not to hide and feel ashamed. I have no advice, but this is my experience.

This is very interesting! I find myself closing my eyes a lot when I dance. Don’t really know why. It just feels right.

I wonder if you could try to find students in your area who are already doing other forms of dance? Ballroom dancers, belly dancers, dancers at the local college?

I saw this ad and video on FB. I guess I watched it before it was taken down? I thought the video was wonderful. I am a Veena fan and love the candid style and delivery of the information. Its perplexing that there is a problem with it considering all the garbage on FB that is perfectly fine.

Back flexibility is hard for me. I feel like I can’t breathe when I start bending that way. I dread even trying.
