Oh Sissy that sux! I’m glad you have answers though! It’s really frustrating to know something is wrong and not know what to do about it. I was having foot pain about a year ago and did a bunch of test and never found out anything. I eventually just stopped doing everything unless I had to and in a few months the pain went away which was lucky. I’ll cross my fingers that everything works out quickly and relatively easily.

He criticized you for being active and doing an excellent form of excerise? I say let him give it a shot and then let him talk.

Good article Veena. Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Welcome! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
Don’t worry about not having a pole. I didn’t have my own pole until after about 6 months of taking lessons 1x/week. Then I finally had saved enough and knew I would stick with it. I have some friends from/in Finland. Never been but they tell me it’s nice…one day I’ll see for myself https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_viking.gif

I love me my reverse grab. And any combo that a reverse grab can be thrown into.
It’s weird cause I was super scared to try this since my active imagination had conjoured up all the horrible ends that might occur should I do it wrong or slip and go flying across the room. But then I did it and loved it!
I really should pick a different go-to spin, maybe the craddle (which is fab too) or something with a smaller radius since I have to plan my take off or kick the sofa, the wall, the bookcase, etc. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif oh well.

I love bananas! I used to hate them, silly me.

I’m also gonna state an obvious possibilty which prob isn’t the case but thought I’d throw it out here anyway. Make sure you’re drinking plently of water. You cramp more when you don’t have enough fluids to flush all the stuff outta the muscels fast enough.

I actually do the opposite of Dani, less skin longer I go. Could be cause I get mad pole burn since I seem to have grippy skin in many places.
What I find helps is really throwing yourself into it. Ok, that is a bad mental image but basically if your leg is swinging to give you momentum then swing it with power like your gonna kick a hole through your wall…but don’t actually kick a hole in it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif . Some spins also need chest/torso to lead/get the momentum going, so almost lean into it. I’m not super great with explaining but for me giving more power and just really going for it helped exponentially. Also make sure that your pushing perpendicular to the pole (which often feels like away) and not in or around the pole. Kinda like a tetherball (you being the ball and the rope being your arms/legs).

OMG Litlbit, you’ve saved me from future horrors! I got my wisdom teeth removed right before X-mas a few years back and the doctor gave me vicadin in the IV along with antibiotics and in pills for after, which my grandma said would be great cause it makes you all happy cause she got it for her knee surgery. But I ended up super pale and shaking, nausous, and disoriented right after the surgery and for the rest of the day https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_shaking.gif (they even snuck me out the employee exit because I looked so bad they didn’t want other patients being freaked out) and then the next couple days on vicadin made me puke my guts out every hours or so. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif I just stopped taking it and had a couple advils instead. Felt much better. still a little in pain but not bad. But now if I ever have to do surgery or have pain meds I’m gonna have to do that IBP+ tylenol combo. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I’ve been a bit worried about it since that happened.

I’m crossing my fingers that you feel up enough to pole, Misslizzy! It’s no fun when you want to and can’t.

My X-pole actually slid a bit recently too. It was super weird. I’d guess the rain and the sudden drop in temp lately. I haven’t noticed the middle of the pole moving but we have different brands of pole.
Be careful though, no smashing your head open unless your bf or I are there to put the pieces back together. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif

Stretching daily is the ideal. With the time frame that depends not only on your goals but also with the types of stretches you do. Some are more efficient, for lack of a better word, than others. Regardless of the types of stretches done, most of the things I’ve read seem to think 20 to 30 min is good for gradually increasing your flexibility. If you’re cramped for time, any amount is better than nothing just to keep everything limber and moving.
