So glad I’m not the only one!!!!!!! It drives me insane! Maybe I should start meditating or something so I learn to control my focus

So I know a bit from random theatrical performances but I’m always looking to expand my repertoire. Let me know if you do some. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif

Good luck with your shoe searching. Shoebuy seems like a good way to go if you can’t find a store to try some on in (another place to try on shoes would be a place that sells more gothic or punkish stuff and shoes since they often have a few "stripper shoes" in stock too).

I agree. I’m 5’6" and swing between 147 was my lowest since I stopped growing and 156, normally around 150. At first, I couldn’t invert worth crap (I would lightheartedly joke that it’s cause my butt and thighs so big they’re holding me down) because I had zero arm strength, the back was strong but arms just kinda hung there. But then I started getting more arm strength from practicing (like I have biceps now that actually move when I flex them. Even when I was swimming competitvely I didn’t have that) and I can invert pretty easily, and have awesome leg grip when I’m upside-down cause all the skin I got going. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif So work on that arm and ab strength. I think it was fleur who posted about how to tell you’re ready to invert and various ways to build up strength for it. Those really help too.

It is all about the legs. When I even start mentally focusing on my butt I can’t do it but if I focus on the legs, BAM! booty shake. But then I realize I have it and start focusing on the butt again. It’s a vicious cycle https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Lots of people here uses Veena’s lessons. They’re quite good and cover everything from strength and flexibility to safety to spins and tricks.

How annoying! Maybe you could pretend you’re one of those paranoid people who have this extreme fear of earthquakes or something, and you need to know where the joist are so you know where is best supported in your place. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif It just might be crazy enough they don’t wanna ask and just tell you what you want.

Is this what you’re talking about?

Half bracket grip- Holding the pole with one hand over and one hand under so that both thumbs are pointing in the same direction. This is the more common grip for most spins and tricks as gravity and centrifugal force require that one arm pulls in toward the pole as the lower arm pushes the body out and away from the pole (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2146899/pole_dancing_vertical_fitness_101_the.html)

What spins are you trying to do that use this hold? Cause I’m having a hard time seeing the hand positions so maybe if you could give examples of spins that use this hold, we can be more helpful.

Don’t be discouraged, pole is hard.

Welcome! I loved Peru when I got to go for a month last year, didn’t get to spend much time in Lima though. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Take it slow if you’re having upper arm pain. I’ll hope that it goes away soon.

Welcome! Only advice I can think of is have fun and be safe (sholders down and back with those spins and such).
    Enjoy! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

So I must preface this with the fact that I am bias cause I’ve been a swimmer my whole life…but swimming is great cause it focuses on core, arms and depending on your technique legs. That helps me out, especially if you rotate your strokes (not all free). Or if you know any or are decent at figuring things out, Synchronized swimming basic skills are good (layouts, ballet legs, egg beater, etc).
But what you’re doing sounds good already. Maybe sneak away to a playground at night. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

So I’m a 9.5 which is annoying with half sizes cause they don’t do them. I know some gals like to get a size smaller cause the plastic will stretch, however some sites recommend 1 size bigger. From my experience (and granted I only have 2 pairs of shoes but both bought online) the pleasers tend to be about true to size, meaning I got a 10 and they fit the same as my 10 normal heels. But Ellie seems to run big (again only in my experience) and I got a 10 and could have easily rocked a 9 and still prob woulda had a bit of room.
If you’re really not sure get a company with a decent return policy. Or go to an adult store nearby, try on some styles/brands similar to what you are considering buying so you can test the sizes yourself. It also prob depends on if you’re going for basic heels or boots since boots tend to be a little more constraining than heels.
