For the people saying they love natural/organic stuff, have you checked out Lush? They have all natural hand made soaps, shampoos, bath beads, things that make scented steam in your shower, all kinds of yummy natural stuff. I just discovered it last month and I’m so hooked. I got my fiance’s mom a bar from there and now she’s addicted too haha. Its kind of expensive though so I only use it for like… "spa days" when I really treat myself. You know, two or three times a week. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
LUSH IS AMAZING!!! I got to work there as holiday help which was awesome because employees get 50% off. Saddly, it was only the holidays and now I have a hard time justifing paying that much when I am hoping to wait till next holiday season and do it again.
It’s great that they’re almost all natural (a few things have minimal preservatives, mostly their bottled stuff) and they don’t use much to any packaging cause most people throw that away anyways.
Only prob with them is you would have to use them after pole or shower between using it and poling because it has a ton of various butters and oils and such that make you slippery on the pole for a while. One product that would be great for after a workout session is their wiccy magic massage bar. It’s spicy and warming and is a less nasty smelling than tiger balm. I love using it after a hard workout.
Sorry for going on and on, but I love Lush. It’s awesome.

Your ex-biology teacher is a douche and so is your ex-"friend’. Anyone could die at any moment. It’s the cost of living. What a copout excuse for basically saying "I’m too self-centered to want to have to consider supporting you in anything that might be remotely difficult because that would take away from me." Douchebags, the lot of them. You’re much better off without either of them in your life. -
or maybe try again with pure rubbing alcohol. I’ll do some experimenting… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_ugeek.gif

Thanks for all the replys. I know it’s a real x-pole cause I got it from Veena (and the rubber is clear). The outside of the box had a green label on it that said to clean the pole before use to remove any excess polish from the factory (I’m guessing they leave it on to protect the pole or something). It might have been the cloth, although I don’t see how that would happen since it was only used with windex, the "green" kind cause it was on sale, before (couldn’t use alcohol on my old pole). I think I’ll try cleaning it again but dilute the alcohol even more and if it happens again I’ll call x-pole. I’m hoping it might have been just an initial thing and sometimes I’m sensitive to chemical smells and that’s why I noticed. Just wanted to see if any of you had ever experienced the same thing.

oh… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif I love the cradle. I couldn’t get my body to go sideways at 1st. Nor would I spin more than 1/2 way around the pole but I kept at it (on static, spin mode scares me a bit though I am getting better at it) and kept working both sides cause I couldn’t figure out which was better for me even though I’m a lefty I switch a lot, and eventually I got it.
I think this is one of those ones that is hard at first because your body positioning is new and for me allowing that top arm to slide down and bend a bit helped a bunch. Although I still can’t do this with the close grip. grrr -
No, you can set it up 2 different places easily (if you have a car that can hold an 8ft long pole, a rav4, subaru, etc). You will need either 2 mounts or move your mount between the two places. The reason I had to switch is because my new place’s ceilings are too short. They have to be between 8 to 10 ft.

I have had both. My first was a Lil’ Mynx Black-powered coated Rotator and I liked it a lot. The plant hook ceiling mount was all that was left and was barely noticable unless you have people who starte up at ceilings a lot. Plus you actually can hang stuff from it like plants or mobiles from it. I could take it down faster and get it up with less effort than the x-pole. I also liked that it was one solid peice and their customer service is top notch. I’ve never had such a pleasant, stress-free, easy experience. I hadn’t accounted for carpet softness so the mount would come unscrewed but intitially we (the CEO and I were trouble shooting on the phone) didn’t realize that so they took my current pole back and shipped me a new one in under a week at no charge to me, no strings attached.
The main reason I switched to a chrome X-pole is because I moved and my ceiling is under 8ft (by 1.5inches grrr) but I am happy with x-pole. I find it harder to take up and down because it is in pieces and the pieces sometimes get stuck but if you aren’t concerned about needing to quickly take it down than it shouldn’t be a problem. But being in several pieces makes it easy to move with since it can adjust to a variety of ceiling heights.
Both are solid poles and good companies. So if you’ll be moving a lot and don’t want to consider ceiling height, I’d get an x-pole. But if you won’t be moving much and/or will always take a place with ceiligns between 8-10 ft, I’d go with lil’ mynx. Either way they’re both great and you’ll be highly satisfied.

Welcome! This site does have tons of great resources and just a lot of really awesome people who share your passion for pole. Happy Pole-ing.

Welcome! I am sure you’ll continue to love pole as you progess too, it’s addicting. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
So as for your questions, I can’t say anything in the cheap pole area but for the last two questions I can give an opinion.
I would say practice the spins till you don’t even have to think going into them. I like to mix up ones I know and ones I am working on because then I still maintain that "feel" of spinning gracefully on the pole while being able to work on those new spins that aren’t so graceful yet.
As for transitions vs. crap tons of spins, I personally like throwing in transitions rather than doing spin after spin because then I can dance more and it just flows better for me. I have some friends that don’t like the dance aspect of pole and so just do spins/tricks right after eachother. For me, thats boring as all get out unless I am just really working on something new and need to practice it over and over again, but then when I am done with that I do some dancing cause for me that is 1/2 the fun.

I got mine here too. It showed up in 6 days, and I ordered on the 3rd of July so I was expecting it to take longer because of the holiday.
-
Welcome! I’m a little envious of the potential for two poles! I barely have room for one.
-
I got most of mine online but the Love Zone up the way from the studio I work for has the Exotic Dance/Idiots guide thing right next to their shoe selection. So it is a long shot but you could check a place like that.

Instructional DVDs are good but I prefer some classes (or web-cam classes) so you can get that personalized feedback and make sure you’re being safe. Once you know the safety basics, classes still help when your having trouble but are not as important in my mind (as long as you have a spotter for trying new inverts). That’s just my opinion though.

Thank you for starting this thread and to all you ladies that posted videos. I’ve always loved this spin but didn’t know what it was called. So I practiced on my awesome new x-pole that arrived yesterday, thanks for the fast shipping Veena I was going into pole deprevation without one up to practice with (had to get rid of the lil mynx, my ceilings are too short in my new place by a 1/2 inch), and I can do it in sweat pants but, take those off the the skin sticks like the dickens. Too nervous to try even the revers grab in spin mode yet. Oh well. More practice for me.
