I’m the opposite, I can’t get my fiancee to come to a lesson with me! I’m hoping when we move house and I get a buy that I can convince her to try a spin or two.

It was a pain for months, and did get in the way of training for races as well as pole, but it’s all healed up now. I’ve just started pole lessons, and whilst I’m wary of my toe (and leg, suspected stress fracture from racing!), I’ve not felt like it’s disadvantaged me yet.

Thanks Cherished, I'll look at those tomorrow.
I did some practice on Iguana Mount tonight, along with a couple of other little things, and managed to record a few attempts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VD6yHffGvxc
I'll have a few bruises tomorrow for sure…

I haven't told many people I do a bit of pole dancing as exercise, but thankfully those I have told have been mostly receptive. If a male friend gets all "Hurr, you're gay now?" then I react exactly the same as when people get judgmental when I say that a few female friends pole dance as a hobby; I show them vids on YouTube of people doing amazing pole acrobatics. Usually shuts them up.
I point out to them that I don't do it to be 'sexy' (not that there's owt wrong with that), I do it so that eventually I can be a god damn ninja, and flip off the laws of physics. Also, it's fun!

Good idea, I'll see about finding a nice bit of grass away from any bemused onlookers.

Thanks Vix, very sweet of you to say that.
I would come to yoga if I didn't have a ton of other things to do/pay for, but we'll see how the next few months go.
You should definitely post up some of your vids here, you've rocked in some awesome moves recently.

Thanks for all those links, very inspiring stuff. Here's the video that made me want to give the pole a go:

A lot of great information here, thank you ladies! I can already see SM being my nemesis for a while, but for me I think it's more about building up my tolerance to the pain. Right now, oh GOD it hurts.

Thanks Elektra, oddly enough I just (with Little Vix) did some of Legend's strength training from her video. Vix could do a lot more than me, but I'm seeing improvements from when we started it last Monday.
I'll also check out the wrist and forearm strength lessons, I definitely need to improve on that. As for Chinese pole, unfortunately I live about an hour away from Birmingham (UK), which is where the closest class I can find is.

Wow, they're more than just attempts, you're there!

Maybe I will this week, just don't laugh too loudly!

Thanks, and good idea! I’ll post a bud when I finally nail it, sometime in the summer I expect 😉

Oh yes, I’m under no illusion that it’s an advanced move, but I want to put in a good few attempts each session as I gain both strength and confidence in the other moves i’m learning. It may take me months of practice, but I’ll get there 🙂

I've started attempting handsprings, but it's just not clicking yet. I'm either not going low enough, or not keeping myself close to the pole, and it's mainly through fear of slamming my face into the ground!
I'm having loads of fun with it though, that's the main thing.

Thanks! I will do, am working on shoulder mount (which hurts, I have the utmost respect for anyone who can do that without cursing) and iguana mount.
