Hi, I’ve got a chrome xpert pole and think its great. My friend had the gold titanium one and I couldn’t tell any difference so I saved my self the extra money. I think the diameter size makes more of a difference the 45mm are better than 50mm as you can grip better. I’ve been teaching about 5 years and I tell girls not to wear gloves as your grip will get better with time. When I started learning I had sweaty hands and then I went through the blister faze and now my hands are like hard leather! Nice… but at least I can grip the pole well. I keep an alcohol based hand gel around when I teach and that will cut through any grease on your hands. Try to make sure you don’t use a moisterising shower gel that can make a huge difference on hand grip and wash your hands before you go on the pole. Also avoid any lotions / fake tans etc. even from the night before. I’m sure you know all this anyway but little things can make all the difference. I would ditch the gloves though and once your hands get used to the grip of the pole they should be ok on any pole. Brass are supposed to be the best grip but I’ve used one and still didn’t notice any difference. My hands are quite dry so I prefer them to sweat as I get a better grip, my whole body sticks to the pole when I’m hot and sweaty which makes it better for tricks. I do appreciate that everyone is different though. I’m pretty sure once you get your pole at home and practice every day you will be fine, your hands with adapt. Hope that helps! x

Finally got the extended butterly! I had a private lesson and the lady explained how to do it, it was similar ish to your way. I pretty much had it but I wasn’t taking my left leg back enough which was causing me to be off balance! Thanks anyway https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

If you can do the bent knee butterfly you’ll get the extended version really soon! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I think everyone does it in different ways, this is how I learned it:
For this you’ll need to invert with your outside hand on top and your inside hand on bottom. Grip the pole with your top hand really strong and go into a basic invert. When your outside leg reaches the pole, don’t hook your knee around it. Straighten your leg and get the back of your ankle on the pole and point your toes so you’re hooking with the back of your ankle. Bring up the other leg to support you. If that feels secure, then take off your bottom hand and change into the split grip. Now you’re basically in the extended butterfly position, you just have to extend your other leg and turn away from the pole as much as you can. Hope this makes sense! I find it a lot easier going straight into the extended butterfly than doing it from the bent leg version.I like your pic a lot too, that’s how we do the gemini too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Hi I did give that a try, when I read your instructions it made perfect sense! I did try it but still felt unstable and came out of it quickly! I’m having a private lesson on saturday so I will get the instructor to go over it with me, I’ll keep you posted! Thanks anyway – really useful tip!

Hi and welcome! I’m in York, really glad to see another UKer here https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Hi, love your profile pick, I can’t do the butterfly yet, I can only do it with the leg hooked at the knee, I can’t seem to let go and hook at the ankle! Any tips would be great! x
