I think jades look best viewed from the non-crotch side, and any bow/arrow, pencil, lunchbox moves make sure your face side is towards the audience so if you get a great arch in your back you can look down towards the floor and that isn't messed up by having a pole between you and your audience. I am interested to hear what others think the prettiest lines are for the butterfly variations? I lean towards the hooked leg/foot on the audience side of the pole.
I must say I have not mastered this in anyway for videos! I am so focused on what I am doing I go and watch the video and 9/10 my arse is facing the camera…drives me nuts! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

As long as you set it up properly, a drywall ceiling will be just fine…our ceiling is original 130yr old plaster and its been just fine! 🙂

A lot of great things said here already! I just wanted to say I'm in the same boat with you! Kids–3,6,8 and I really like to feel "alone" when I pole or I just can't really focus. This past summer was SO difficult and my pole practices suffered. Normally I practice at night when they are in bed, but I was so worn out. 🙁 Now that they are in school I have been able to schedule in an hour a few times a week to pole with my youngest at home. What has helped is: 1) Making notes for my practice–I'll jot down what I specifically want to work on…even what songs I want to use. 2) Keeping the set time to practice no matter how messy things are, etc. I can't get it ALL done, but I won't let it get in my way. 3) If I can't focus and clear my head enough to dance, I REALLY love committing to Veena's pole strength routine–its 20-25min in length and by the end you are warm for a bit of stretching or more pole. The kids can be in the room when I do the strength routine cause I have something to focus on (Veena) 🙂 Hope this helps!!!

The thing that really helped me secure this move was in Veena's lesson when she says to drop the back leg further down and that will cause your hip to secure you even more into the pole–AND really squeezing with that armpit. When you get it the rush you feel will nearly eliminate the pain…feels so good to nail those moves. 🙂

Stretching IS hard! I completely agree! Admittedly I am still near the beginning of my flexy journey, that being said, I have NEVER been this flexible and I feel it when I walk even. I think if I didn't have the flexibility routines on StudioVeena to keep my brain busy I wouldn't be able to stick with it as I plan to. Are you trying to get more flexible or just maintain at this point?

Congratulations! I felt SO lucky to have been there and see so many I have "met" on SV compete in what was such a positive and supportive competition. Loved the variety of strengths, styles, and abilities represented within each division. Well done everyone!

My 1st time meeting Amber (Fleur) was at a workshop and I froze! LOL She is such an amazing dancer and drop dead gorgeous *sigh* I had never been on a 45mm pole and didn't want to make a big deal out of it cause I wanted to be in the back corner. haha. well I could barely sit on it and then my forearm stand was horrible cause I had never done it off of my carpet! I was mortified.
Veena and I live a town away from eachother so we get to pole or hang out sometimes…I am finally able to speak coherently around her. LOL I still feel like bowing and repeating "I'm not worthy!" when I see her pole though. haha

I now have no excuses for my lack of flexibility. The routines are suberb!

I would recommend the Lil Mynx poles! I am hearing more and more great reviews of them and also their customer service and manufacturing process. More and more complaints are coming down the wire towards the new xpert poles. 🙁 They will corrode and I have friends whose TG is completely worn through. I too had to send my new TG pole back due to gouges in the finish. The Lil Mynx colored poles are the way I'd go now. 😀 Good Luck!
