I’ve just found this thread Cali, sorry I missed it earlier. I have nothing useful to say and my thoughts are the same as everyone before me, so just wanted to add my cyber-arms to the group hug here xox

Hi, just wanted to sympathise with your corkscrew issue – it took me weeks to master it! I don’t know if this’ll be the same for you, but I find I really have to visualise what I want my body to do before I can come close to making it comply, and also I found that the corkscrew was easier once I mastered a reverse grab, as it’s essentially the same thing but with your hands together up top instead. I had to become more comfortable with my grip for spinning, then think that I was throwing myself feet first around the pole, really concentrating on visualising the corkscrewing motion. Also, I find that sometimes learning a new spin on spinny setting means I can concentrate on body placement, then I go to static to incorporate momentum.
I still think I look like I’m taking a dump on a carousel, but one day I will look gorgeous lol! and I can’t do a side spin extension either, if it’s what I think it is (I just found one on YouTube by Robybobbin). Post us a video when you get it, won’t you please? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Oh Sascha sweetie, I really feel for you! As the others have said you must eat, Foxy that was a really interesting and useful post! And I know you’re scared at the thought of acupuncture but I am terrified of needles myself and can say that my doctor who is actually Chinese and fully trained in acupuncture as well as medicine, was so kind and gentle that I could close my eyes and listen to the music and never know what was happening. The needles are so fine that they get to body temperature really fast and you can’t feel them. Not like injections or blood extractions at all, which I can’t stand, to put it mildly. I really do recommend it as an alternative therapy if you have a respectable acupuncturist over there.
I do hope the muscle relaxants work for you. Massaging the jaw joint helps with mine, especially with easing the pain. Now go eat/drink something!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_chef.gif

I’m a September baby too… 31 this year. I was a bit of a tomboy as a kid, climbing trees and suchlike, always wanted to do circus tricks but too accident-prone even if I’d had the opportunity. Never really got into sports as my eyesight is quite poor and if I wore my glasses they’d steam up, and if I didn’t then I couldn’t see https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif so I assumed I was rubbish. I windsurfed in my teens though and luuuurved it, although my arm muscles got unladylike large just when I was wanting to start acting like a girly girl. Haven’t done any proper form of sport or exercise really since I was 18/19 or so, just walking to work, gardening, that sort of thing. I think my legs have toned up since poling, but nothing seems to shift the squishy belly, perhaps I should eat less cake!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

So glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better about it Glitter, your doctor does sound great! Hope you recover from the speculum intrusion soon, they’re the most horrid invention on this planet (at least in my limited experience). Hope all sorts itself out soon and you’re back to spreading your glittery magic. Azriel you are an angel!
Oh and by the way, don’t worry about being gross, I’ve blogged about the time I "miscarried" a false pregnancy, that was pretty gross!

I don’t believe anyone’s too old to start a new hobby unless they’re physically incapable of doing it (in the sense that they’d be silly to try and would harm themselves in the process) so don’t let her saying that get to you. I was initially shy about it but since connecting with the YouTube community and then discovering Veena’s I realised that there are people the same age and older doing it lol! As for your progress, what Veena says is so true. I’m a very sensitive person and I feel awful for confessing this, but when I’m watching other people’s videos I swing between being kinda jealous (but not in a nasty way, I fully support their achievements) of people who learn faster than me and then guilty if I achieve something that I know another person is struggling with https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif I guess my brain is pretty wierd huh?! I guess we all compare ourselves to each other when really we should be proud of what we have achieved, even when it’s only a tiny little bit.
