you guys have all convinced me to give it another shot too… going to pole class now and will get someone to spot me, wish me luck!!!!!!!! Together we can do it kate!!

I inverted on my fifth lesson (I was quite strong already and had been practising tucks since the first, to be clear!), and have no problem with most of the upside down moves.. and I can come down into a nice handstand easily from a layback…. but now, after 18 months, i STILL can't do a normal head or handstand against a wall!!! Everyone is different – for me, i can do it occasionally if i have someone watching, but it's a struggle – it freaks me out! So there's no connection between the two, I think.

Ahahaha this thread makes me laugh!!
I noticed my boobs got much perkier when I started regular zumba classes 3 years ago, thanks to all the ab/booty crunches… but they've stayed that way thanks to pole! Friends have commented that although they're small they are surprisingly round and bouncy!
And just this morning (dont' laugh) I was standing naked about to get into the shower, and realised I could do that weird boob-bounce thing using my pecs and shoulders (kinda like in the black eyed peas my humps video?) and thought to myself "damn i love pole."
For those of you who haven't tried that, do it 😀

I reckon I can drum up at least one pole friend from here to come along too, so put me down with a "plus one!" Looking forward to this – gonna be epic!!!! thanks so much for the organising everyone (esp Raven!!)

Right, ok you've all convinced me it'd be a total waste of money! I can't be dealing with tops slipping around everywhere… I'll have a look at their website again and maybe get the bondage one then. Thanks guys!!

I've been thinking of getting one too, so this thread has made me remember to ask – what if you're a 34 or 36B/C? Mostly B lol. I would normally get a medium in T shirts, etc. But you want a bra/sports top to fit tightly…. but you guys all say this runs to small…. so should I get a small or medium?!
Also – how much actual support do you get from it? I only want it for pole, I'll keep my sports bras for running etc, but I still would like a bit of support from my polewear…..

20th works for me! You're right Lizzie – having others around will make spinny alot easier and I am sure you will be fine!!!!!!!! I'm excited about the stage too!

YES YES YES!! 😀 Thanks shona! guys we can always have another one at a later date with static poles in another studio….. better to have two than none at all! Shona either of those saturdays works for me 😀

seeing Shona's comment on Nikita's post made me realise we need to kickstart this discussion and planning again ladies!
Where is everyone at for asking for studio space on either 20/21 or 27/28th April??? Maybe we should lock down Shona's studio (with the 4 spinny poles) and then we can change if possible, but at least then we have a definite option…..

Only zumba once a week, and a short (20 min) run once a week too. But then I walk to work and home every day (30 mins each way), and pole twice a week. So I think that's enough!
I know what you mean – I feel sometimes I should be doing more cardio, especially for the heart-protection factor… but pole is so much more fun, I think it's maybe worth the slight decrease in exercise quality for the enjoyment! Pole puts more of a smile on my face than anything and that counts more than heartrate sometimes!

oh damn I forgot about the awful cupid!!! It comes and goes…. but mostly it's just gone 🙁

Aerial shoulder mount. It's been written on my "Learn These!" list on my whiteboard since I moved into this flat, 7 months ago!!
-
I've been so busy that I forgot all about this! Ladies it has to happen!!!! I know we originally ruled out Shona's studio because there's only 4 poles… but maybe we could use it and have it open for longer? Like 3 or 4 hours even? THen it's a nice relaxed day, we can all bring lucozade and munchies, and take turns chilling/poling/etc. I'm sure we'd all be willing to pay a bit more for a longer session. It'd be nice to get this nailed down and I think that was the closest we got to a definite YES from a studio….

I would say DON'T try inverting until you can climb up and hold a crucifix for an entire minute, at least. If you can't hold on with your legs solidly, without hands, when you're the right way up, it's probably a bad idea to try it upside down! Even if you don't plan on taking your hands off there's alot more weight and pressure on your legs so you need a damn good grip!

If it's the second half of April, then I'll be there Zoey! So I'm a probable-yes 🙂
