GAH I have to buy a cord to upload my video… but I made one. I didn’t do one continuously, I haven’t been myself lately and haven’t felt sexy or anything of that sort so I just faked. LOL. Anyway, I’m pretty excited. Hope to have it up in a couple of days if not tomorrow!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

Just watch the other girls and immitate. Floor is hard when you don’t know what you are doing, but I do know poleing can get you more money. Start doing push-ups, build the arm muscles it takes to do anything on floor. LOL. You are pushing yourself up a lot, so being able to support your own weight is important. Plus, you pole so your arm muscles are probably good. It takes a lot of muscle control for poling (which you know), but just as much for floor work.

Also, you can make a routine, but my advice is have an even mix of the two and read which one the crowd pays attention to more and then for your 2nd song do more of that type. Or you could do one strictly floor and one strictly pole, but it is all about how you feel. Also, pay attention to the types of "tricks" you do for money on the tip rail, cause you will run out of things to do for them. AND know what you are comfortable with and most importantly have a GOOD TIME! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif

And unless it is part of the rules, you don’t HAVE to take the G-string off, dance floors can get icky. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

April 9, 2009 at 12:04 am in reply to: Related to Dariens post..Im thinking about working at a club

A few things I can think of when I worked…

*Yes, I would go back even knowing what I know now. I really had a great time dancing.
*Be careful of the girls, a lot of them can be completely catty https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif and mean, seriously! They will try to break you down, because they want your revenue. And less dancers, mean less competition. And some of them are jealous.
*I consider myself intellectual, but sometimesI had to dumb myself down to get clients. I hated it, but it is part of the hustle. A lot of what I had to do was pretending/acting to be someone else.
*I’m a bigger girl, i am 5’4" & 150lbs. and have had a child that left me bareing stretch marks. I made just as much money as most girls. Of course there are girls who can hustle in their sleep. And when I worked I lost almost 15 lbs. Neke, said it best, there is no pleasing everyone. I had a guy look at me and tell me I looked too old and that I should look like her, then pointed to a girl that I worked with who was 18 and had no children. I was 23 at the time.
*Some nights are good, some nights are bad. You just have to roll with the punches.
*Being tired and worn out are stressors of the job. You are up all night, which you aren’t use to, you are working and moving all night in 7in or higher heels. It can be SUPER tough on your body, I have scars on my knees from floor burn.
*Higher the shoes, the smaller you look on stage.
*Good lighting is your best friend.
*Good Music is essential. Sometimes you have to dance to music you would have never wanted to dance to, to make the money. So cliche, I had to perform an extra two songs because two girls were busy with clients, so I picked that song "make it rain" (which I hate), and I made 100 bucks on 1 song, so in 3 minutes, i made 100 bucks. I’m not bragging, but music is key to making money from my experience.
*Also you have to know your audience, we had an older gentlemen who came in like 2 night a week, he was a widower, who was just lonely, he wasn’t ever looking for the "sexual tension" stripper’s create, he was just looking for company. He would buy hour dances from my friend and just talk to her and only her for an hour.
*NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER get involved with clients outside of work. It makes your establishment look bad, it makes you look bad and it is SUPER bad for business. I know girls who have done this and it only hurt them in the end.
*Be wise with your money, yes it is easy to make, but it is easy to spend as well. New outfits for stage, new shoes, new make-up, tanning, nails, & hair. It can leave your pocket, just as easily as it entered.

Also, I know the feeling of if your family found out, but ultimately I think back to Transformer’s when Sam is talking to Michaela, he said something like, "Don’t you want to look back 10 years from now and know you had the guts to get in the car."
Just try, worse comes to worse you hate it… and you can pretend it never happened. Best comes to best, you love it, but you are a smart adult who can make her own decisions.
My friend Star, her family was super pissed when they found out, but once she started to pay her own way for everything & paying her parents back the money that she owed them, they didn’t see it as such a bad thing anymore. And as for me, I thought if I’m adult enough to buy a car, get married, raise a child, vote, and get a credit card, I can pick what kind of job I want to have, even if they don’t like it. I think if you are happy, they will eventually be happy too. Plus, you don’t have to tell your parents anything you don’t want to. Their life is their’s to make and your life is your own to make. And I love my parents dearly…

My best advice is FAKE IT, TILL YOU MAKE IT! That is what I did and I don’t think i did so bad at all. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

ahhh i didn’t realize the difference in college vs. high school in the UK and America. Should have known.

I still stand by what I said as far as (American college) but other then that I mostly agree with you Fleur. Crazy boys and their hormones, and girls that just want to be accepted by everyone. good points!

I use to dance to Foxy Lady by Jimmy Hendrix and do the "Garth moves" LOL . And I like the name Jet…reminds me of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. GOOD TIMES!

My suggestion list for you JACQ is as such:
    Mitsu – Japanese: Shine
    Miya – Japanese: Beauty
    Mieko- Japanese: beautiful, blessed child
    Eve
    Lilith
Filia – Greek: meaning daughter, represents the love between parent and child
Fallon- Irish: In charge; surname used as a first name
Brinley- American: Virtuous, princess (my personal fav)
Cinnamon- yeah for the color of your hair, my aunt’s best friend is named this, lol.
    Nadia- so exotic imo
Marley- after Bob Marley (love the music)

For some reason, I’m drawn to the "M" names for you. And most of them tend to be Japanese, weird.

I posted a another topic in this Forum on picking stage names. It is my guildline to get people thinking. It might help you and ANYONE else who wants a name!!! I can’t wait to see what you pick!

what i don’t understand is why they are making a big deal out of this… these kids are in college. Most of them LEGAL adults. Who honestly cares about the parents, the falculty, or anything else. Obiviously there had to be someone or a group of people who found this completely appropiate to exhibit to the students. Most of the time, in schools/colleges, groups formed from students and falculty alike put activities like this together. Gah, this is angers me to extremes.
Shame on that school for being embarrassed. Shame on the students for not speaking out. Shame on the parents and falculty for being so close-minded. Instead of creating a new perspective, lets just stick with the same "Oh, the slutty mcskankness probably works in a dirty-ass dive club, where is probably just ‘working thru’ college."

Way to go society. GAH!!!!! I want to punch these people. LOL.

I can’t always make it to the chats on Friday and when I do… i’m lost for topics to talk about. LOL. So I figure everyone could get to know a little bit abotu me through this.

My husband and I have probably had the most tulmultuous relationship I have ever found. And I read tons of books, fiction & non-fiction alike. Without all the glory-bound details, my husband came home from his first tour in Iraq and our relationship was not the same. We were having worse arguments, we were not happy, for a lot of reasons he resented me and for a lot of reasons I resented him. So we seperated. He wasn’t fighting fair. He was threatening to take money away from me, put me out on the street, and told me I needed to get a job. I was a fulltime stay-at-home mother and watching one of my best friends kids for her during the day, (getting paid) so I couldn’t get a job during the day. And he sure as hell wasn’t helping me in anyway with our son after he left. I had a couple of friends who were working at a new club that had just opened and well one friend in particular told me to come in and watch her stage. Only mins. after I walked in the owner was begging me to dance, I needed the money, and at the moment I felt like being a vindictive b*tch. So I started that following Sunday.
I knew nothing of stripping, nothing of being sexy. But I would watch the other girls and just try to imitate. There were a couple of girls who were willing to help and teach. One of the girls who later became a really good friend, could pole like nobodies’ business. Plus it made her lots of extra money. I was so amazed at her abilities, then and there I decided that I had to learn at much as I could about the pole.
I was YouTubing the sh!t out of pole dancing and lessons and then I stumbled upon Veena’s channel. I was so intrigued, not only was she a mom but a pole dancer. So I was learning from the girls at work and learning from Veena. I worked there for only 3 months. But I had never been more fit and healthy. I had never been more happy with who I was, and who I was, was a mom who loved to take her clothes off for strangers to make more money in two nights then most people in two weeks, who was sexy, confident, and for once happy.
Five months later, my husband wants to reconcile. My husband and I have been back together since Sept. 08 and things have been tough. But we are probably more in love then ever and I found something that makes me happy and lets me feel very sexy.
So after saving, I finally got to buy one last week. I still haven’t got it, but I’m waiting patiently. I have wanted one for almost 9 months (ever since I quit dancing). I can’t wait to get in shape again, feel sexy and have something to show my husband when he gets back from this deployment (Afganistan). Not only that, I’m finally going to school soon. Hopefully. Things are finally moving forward in every way.
About a month back I went to see if Veena had posted anything new and it lead me here to StudioVeena. Now I spend a couple hours a day reading, writing and watching. I love it. So thank you, Veena’s baby Henry and Veena’s husband’s ex-boss. Hooray for for hard times and coming out on top. Nothing feels better then being able to move forward when you are being brought down by life in general.
Ack, sorry this is long. I tend to write a lot. Good thread azriel.
