Oh. One more giggle for everyone: I read through my teenage son’s text messages. (Please understand these are middle school students and I like to think they talk bigger than they act…hopefully I’m not too naive a mom.) So, this girl texts my son, “it’s guy hug a girl day tomorrow.” My son texts back, “it’s also ‘innapropriate touch’ Tuesday. So don’t get mad if I grab your butt when I hug you.” Made me lol!

In my dreams I do the splits 🙂

Thank you all for the giggles! I shared the dog-shaming with my son. We laughed and laughed. Thanks everyone 🙂

@Eva X – in my humble opinion, critique is advice and is available for those who seek it. At my level, I don’t consider myself qualified to give a lot of advice on a particular move or dance style. Further, I don’t support CRITICISM, but, rather, critique, again, for those who seek it. I merely shared the link for those polers who wish for professional advice to improve their performance or prepare for competition. I post my videos here to share my progress. I’m older and pole as a hobby, not for a living. While I may perform for friends, I will never compete, and this is a welcome place for me to receive feedback from polers who have followed my progress and pole for fun and fitness as I do. I’m sure if you ask for advice, you will find many here who can help you, but, many of us here post here because it is a warm and welcoming environment, and a safe place to share with others at our level who share our passion for pole. Happy poling!

Here’s a link for polers looking for feedback for serious, competitive training:

I don’t lie when I comment. Ever. I think everyone here IS sexy and everyone here IS doing a great job, because, as chemmie said, we here are all learning, we all know one another well, and just posting a video, for some, is a huge accomplishment. If someone wants or needs serious critique as a competitor or professional, there are other forums for that.

MemberSeptember 25, 2012 at 7:20 pm in reply to: Children and Pole Dance on Anderson CooperI think it’s more than unfortunate that the media in this country have such a vulgar misunderstanding of their profession. They feel their obligation is not to report facts but, rather, to stir emotions. If there’s no controversy, there’s no show. No show, no advertisers. No advertisers, no money. Unfortunately, we, the viewing public, must share the blame. We eat this crap up, let it upset us, and demand nothing of substance from television producers, reporters, and advertisers. Shame on them. Shame on us. Can’t blame Anderson Cooper for trying to make a buck. It’s obvious he’s reporting on a topic he hasn’t researched. He’s just the pretty face reading the teleprompter. If I made my money as a daytime television producer, I’d dig up all the controversy I could to keep my job, and I wouldn’t worry too much about research or facts, because my viewers aren’t interested in facts. Choose any topic: everyone holds and maintains their own opinion, regardless of the facts. They just tune in to watch pretty people argue. The ladies did a good job answering the questions posed by Anderson Cooper. Unfortunately, the only people who understood their answers, were those who already agreed with them.
To my fellow Veeners, please don’t be upset by pole controversies. It’s a waste of energy. Energy that you should spend on acts of love and kindness. Go dance with your kids instead. And, remember, if love guides your child-rearing decisions, those decisions will always be right. No matter what Goldie Hawn says. -
Welcome!

Pancake, this is so funny. I almost suggested the same after watching chloe loves milo’s baby warm up video last night. We should dance in sweats with kids and pets. I’ve seen several vids here with kids and pets and significant others. It would be fun to see everyone poling with their family!

Done. I absolutely loved it!

As much as I love watching all the phenomenal talent on YT, I honestly find my inspiration here. I really enjoy watching everyone here work on tricks or flow or finding their style. I love reading video and discussion comments, and seeing everyone, regardless of their background or ability, coming together to help and support and befriend one another. That said, the Veener whose videos I’ve faved most is tracee. She has a dance background, which impresses me as a woman of little to no grace 😉 But, my favorite thing about tracee is that her dancing is raw and powerful and genuine. You can see that her movement comes directly from her soul. She is an honest dancer, and there’s nothing I respect more than an honest person.
Oh. And, once, tracee commented on one of MY videos. I died! -
My favorite combo is fan kick to back hook spin to Inverted V to Gemini Climb to Cupid (Star) to Shooting Star to Falling Star (with leg switch so I end in Scorpio). Then all sorts of different stuff from there 🙂 The combo I’m working now is an aerial fan kick to CAR to Straight Edge to Brass Monkey to Eros and then I get stuck ….lol!

I just figured it for an editing challenge…do some ceiling stuff each practice and put the clips together. That or a 12 second video. Lol!
