Congratulations to the winners! Even though I entered, I put my vote in toward CapFeb and not myself. She truly deserved it more than me and I am sure that Mitzit did too.
Unfortunately, my pole has come down. I was, quite literally, out of options. Maybe I'll pick it up again in the future.

I know I can't do the NuvaRing. I used it in college and loved it for a while, but after about 9 months – 1 year of using it, I started to react horribly every time I put it in. It felt like my insides would swell and I'd get all itchy. It sucks so much to itch on the INSIDE of your body. I couldn't do anything. Everything hurt. Even the friction of my clothes as I walked would be too much and I was constantly uncomfortable. My doctors screened for STIs (which didn't even make sense for me as I have been very safe and monogomous), yeast infections, other bacterial infections, etc. and couldn't find anything wrong with me to cause the itching. They just told me to switch to uncented laundry detergent, wear only breathable cotton clothes, and don't use any soaps with dyes or scents. Of course, the itching persisted and I got so fed up. My boyfriend suggested I take out the Ring for a while, since I could barely stomach to put it in or have it in anyway and after a month of not wearing it, the itching subsided. I'm not sure what caused it, but I haven't had that same feeling since stopping the Nuva Ring. It's why I switched to the Pill in the first place.

I hate to dig up old threads, but this discussion is really interesting and I didn't want to start a new topic when this one already exists.
I am "currently" on the pill (Tri-Sprintec 28 to be exact). I say "currently" because I can't ever remember to take the darn things. I don't think I've had a full packet of pills that I've taken on time in a year. Not very effective, I know. Obviously, I should probably switch if I don't want an unnecessarily high pregnancy risk. My boyfriend and I always use condoms as a backup, but we live together now, so we have sex more often than we used to. Still, I'm so worried about the BC issue that it isn't as often as we would like.
Anyway, I wanted to see if anyone had additional thoughts since then or if anyone new wanted to chime in. I'm leaning toward the Implanon but my first thought was about poling. I'm not doing anything advanced yet, but I would like to at some point. I have not had children so I worry about Mirena. I've also known people with horror stories about it not being put in correctly and causing so much pain. I also worry about the bone density thing with Depo. I have had my density checked in the past, which turned out fine, because I had broken my arm 4 times. I have a "star quality", as my doctor put it, to land just right to break something. I don't need bones that are more brittle. I love milk and dairy, but I don't think it would be enough.
Thoughts?

I didn't, but then again, I submitted mine last night before bed.

I have a fan page because I need to keep my personal page separate from pole. I can't add people as friends, but you can like me if you want.

I've been super swamped at work and at home, but I promise I'll get mine in!

I just saw a commercial for it actually, and noticed that they're calling it something different now. Carnation "Breakfast Essentials" might be on the box. Just a heads up if you were looking for it.

I LOVE Carnation Instant Breakfast! I buy the variety box all the time (because all the flavors are good) but actually, my favorite is the vanilla flavor. It's like liquid vanilla ice cream. I'm a huge milk drinker though, so that's probably why. I've been drinking it since middle school and I don't know what I would do without it.
I am also anemic, but I have noticed a big difference in how I feel when I either stop or start drinking my Instant Breakfast. I have a really poor diet due to my mental difficulties with certain foods. It's like a high anxiety/fear and OCD for food. I can never explain it well, but it makes me feel stupid. I need things like Instant Breakfast (and even Shakeology, which I used for a while) to help fill in my nutritional gaps. I know how that run-down feeling is and it sucks. All I can do is power on through it. Still, I wanted to give another vote for Instant Breakfast. I haven't had Slim Fast, but I have had the Special K protein shakes and Instant Breakfast is far better than those. It doesn't have the protein taste at all.

I've gotten this sick feeling when working my abs hard too. I'm not sure how to avoid it, but I always am able to push through the set or whatever I'm working on. After I'm done actually working the muscles, the feeling passes fairly quickly. I'm not sure what to do, but I just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone.

Oh no worries! I wasn't complaining. I was in a hurry because I thought the Free Shipping offer on SV would end soon.

I actually started a thread about this exact topic back in May.
My ceilings are exactly 9 ft. I did not purchase an extension (though I would have, if I had gotten a quicker response before I purchased it) and my pole is very sturdy and safe. I would certainly consider X Pole Tech's advice, but my pole has performed well since June, even at this height.

Also a pet peeve of mine to hear the clinging of rings on the pole. I want to scream at people to take them off because they scratch the poles. My studio has this policy but it isn't really followed all the time. The brass poles there have some deep grooves and gouges in them from people doing spins in rings (which are likely harder than the brass). I hate to hear that clinging sound. Hard wrist jewelry would be especially painful also, so my watch always comes off. I take off my beloved Aggie Ring when I pole, and you know how special those things are to us Aggies. We are known to NEVER take them off! It's not good for your rings, it's not good for the pole, and it's annoying to hear the cling, cling, cling against the pole every time someone adjusts their hand, especially when the instructor is talking.

I've been meaning to get the lessons here on SV for so long, but the money has never been there. I have stopped taking lessons at the studio, partly because I need to work some things out before I'm ready and partly because it's expensive. I could only take the drop in classes because of a special 1/2 price promotion. Now that it's over, I probably won't be able to go anymore.
I will definitely be applying for this scholarship. You are truly an amazing person, Krissykiki. I'm always amazed by your strength and commitment. Thank you (and SV) for offering this opportunity and good luck (and congratulations) to the girls who apply for and eventually receive this scholarship.

Still a little sore, but I felt better after just 10 minutes in the water. I'd recommend it. Not a cure, but it definitely helps the feeling by letting your muscles relax a bit.

MemberAugust 23, 2012 at 1:27 pm in reply to: I feel like I got punched in the stomach…I did a PoleFit class on Tuesday and man am I feeling it! I was feeling it yesterday too, but I can't decided if today is better or worse than that.
I think I must have done 100 squats. We did 4 songs worth of circuits. The exercises were to do squats with a pulse (so really 2 squats) horizontally across the studio (50+ feet long) and then back the other way, then come to our mat and do 10 reps of downward dog into a tricep pushup and back into downward dog, then do 20 calf raises, using the pole for balance, then to climb up the pole twice, then do 50 jumping jacks. Then repeat. Every other rotation, we were to switch out the 50 jumping jacks for 50 full sit ups (not crunches). 4 songs is about 15 minutes and I made it through the circuit twice, plus one extra round of squats, down and back. Of course, this was after doing some light warm-up stretching, mild cardio, and a full ab work out to get us all warmed up. The ab workout alone was killer ("Chloe's revenge" plus 3 minutes of planks!?!) I feel like I'm going to die. I only took a week and a half off my normal fitness routine. I didn't expect to be so sore. I never got sore before doing this class. This sucks. All I can do is hope it is better tomorrow.
