Completely can se myselfe in what you said Veena. I started pole in 2008. I loved it so much. But had alot of focus on spins and dancing. Started to advance and when i nailed the Scorpio and Gemini (as we called itway back when)i thougth myselfe to be really Advanced 😛

I been stretching my splits for the longest time. But lack of knowledge i Guess in the beginning is what took me sooo unbelivable long. hehe. So following a program i Guess would be really helpfull. I tore my hamstrings in both legs, sÃ¥ after that i learned all about the Things going on in the legs and stuff. 😛 But what really helped me, was to do really good stretching for the pancake first and then do the splits. and stretching for an over split, just to get my normal split. i dont think i would have gotten the normal one if i didnt. But for me it was alot in the hips, so doing the overstretching really got a good stretch in there. good Luck 😀 hope you get there soon!

Im not shure what pain you are having, but some times its cuz the membrane around the bones are irritated and that can cause inflamation- but this is in most cases happening to the lover arm when doing a full bracet grip…
But i have never heard my students having them kind a problems with shoulders.. It could be your shoulders are not strong enough. So doing more spins will help on the muscles, but narrow push ups, and/ore handstand will work you shoulders as well, if you want to train them in other ways than with the pole.
^^ Hope you find a way that will help you! (and sorry for my shitty english)
