That sounds like a great plan KittyCat86!  You had a good rest of inbetween your workouts and a good rest before your performance.  My training has been one day on and one day off and I can feel the difference in my strength when it comes to practice.  Thank you for sharing!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Aww…Thank you Trixie!!!  XOXO  I'll send him a message too.  We definitely all 'live and learn' and I would love to learn from what I've done and I would want other competitors and performers to be able to do the same.  At that point we can see everyone's phenomenal talent!!  Thank you Roamy…energy would be necessary for that kind of workout.  I can't imagine going in on empty.  =)

Thank you Oliviaaa!  I think it's a topic that isn't discussed too much and I think with pole becoming more popular and ladies (and gentlemen) performing and competing…it's a good thing to know so everyone can go out and do their very best.  I trained very hard up till about 2 days before and I don't think that was enough time to recover and feel refreshed.  I definitely learned to eat better when training and make sure I trained more effectively with rest in between. I'm sure everyone has a system that works for them…I just thought it would be a great discussion to start and see if it could be assistance to anyone thinking about performing or competiting.  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

It sounds like you've got the newest style…I've got the older version that screws together and uses the bars to tighten and loosen.  Those have gotten to be a pain LOL!  I would think the Allen key style would loosen if you have a good grip with a wrench.  You could probably get a good grip with the wrench on the key then lightly tap it the right direction with a hammer.  Just to loosen the lock on it.  I wouldn't think you'd want to put anything as far as oil into the joint at all, but you could always call xpole and I bet they would have a remedy for the problem.  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Do you have the new xpole design or the old one?  I have problems with my older style.  The metal tools (sticks) tend to bend and eventually break over time tightening and loosening the joints.  We're down to one now and use a screw driver for the other tool until we get some new ones in the mail.  If it's the newer model then you just need to purchase another allen key at the hardware store.  I would recommend putting the allen key in place then using a wrench to grasp and turn the key.  This might give enough leverage to unlock it.  Another trick would be to use a hammer to lightly tap the key in the right direction to loosen it.  We've done this with the older style and it really does help.   I hope that possibly helps some…I'll keep my fingeres crossed for you!!  =)

When I was first learning how to do the jade, I soon figured it out it was easier on the side I was most flexible on.  I stil had a jade 'L' at first that eventually went to a jade 'v' Lol.  I typically start by inverted into a gemini (outside leg hold), then transition into a pike.  Once in a pike I'd reach over with my opposite hand and grab the leg on the other side of the pole…pulling that leg towards my chest. I place my free hand on my hip and push up…this helps flatten out your hips a bit more.  I agree with Amy that it's more of a pushing up at the hip that really locks that hold in.  Once you find a comfortable spot…just slowly keep on extending you split out a bit more each time.  Pointing you back foot seems to be the final point to keeping that back leg straight.  I'm personally horrible about this…it really makes a huge difference when you point your toes.  =)

I really think that some moves takes more time to develop than other for every individual.  I have friends that got the knee hold super quick and that sucker STILL kills me!  LOL…I keep blaming it on my boney knees Haha!!  Keep up the awesome work and don't push any further than your body is saying to go.  <3<3<3

Nicely done!! That is a hard one move and exciting to get down. When I first started doing the Aysha I found it easier to hold and V out my legs with my hips close to the pole. The V-ing out of the legs does help with the balance. That pencil straight hold uses a lot of core strength to stay steady. As I could hold it longer I actually started to drop my hips back and out a bit more…building more strength. Great work!! Keep it up girl!! xoxo

    Hi Sarah!!

I teach at Soft Sensuous Moves down in San Antonio. I’ve been thinking of taking a road trip up to Austin to visit! Things have been busy at home with my kiddos being off for the summer, but I’m hoping to get there soon!
