Actually KittyN…lol @ your side note. I laugh too when I watch the video! It does look pretty funny! I was actually shocked when I couldn't get the boots to grip. I know I have to squeeze with a bruising death grip out of my limbs (way more than any other pole) to even get a grip that will last a few seconds when staying high, with the boots I thought it would be a little easier, hence the scrambling, haha https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Now I work shoeless or just in my ballet shoes, as shoes don't seem to help, like Sensualscimitar said.

Still considering talking to X Pole.

Honestly, I know it's totally different, but after my experiences with Platinum Stages customer service, I don't even want to give any feedback on my pole to X Pole. I will consider. But yeah, I've tried alcohol, windex, and acetone :/ Hmmm. Also tried itac and other grips. I'll wipe it down again 🙂 Maybe X Pole will see the vid, haha. I was shocked the boots didn't stick though!

Just tried my favo boots on my pole and posted my first ever video on youtube. The vinyl boots do not actually adhere to the pole like they do to other poles. About the vid, while it's not my dream first video 😉 I think it's a good example of the "slide" I'm talking about, if anyone is interested:

I can almost always work with slick. I very briefly had a PS SS pole, but it was manufactured really poorly to the point where I couldn't even set it up. It also took a really long time to come and I was impatient and didn't want to have to wait another month or whatever for another one that could be of the same low quality. I couldn't deal with all the plastic pieces, either. If Lil Mynx is similar "slickness" to PS, I would be good with that 🙂 I've always wanted to go to Oregon and I'm only one state away, hee hee, maybe I could visit that studio someday!

Oh my gosh, I'm so glad I didn't wind up going with the brass then–not only is it more expensive, but I would have a 45, which is not good for me because I generally need to work on a standard size pole to practice for work and such.

I'm not sure if I should call X Pole or what. They can't really do anything. I mean, the reason I got SS was because I was horribly allergic to the chrome (sadly). I think Lil Mynx would be my next option if I am not able to get used to this. Maybe I could try it somewhere first 🙂

Sure! Okay…pics! So far, in pics it looks sort of like a darker chrome. I think the bottom plate might be chrome, so you might be able to compare, but I'm not sure if it'll show. I'll add pics to my flickr  in about an hour 😀

@poledanceromance–yes, I agree with you, to an extent. I have heard different things from different people as to the grip factor in different metals. At this time, however, I do believe that even the people at X Pole say that THEIR stainless has less grip (than their chrome). It is kind of a weird texture, yes, sort of similar to a very, very, very fine grained brushed steel, though I feel like that's inaccurate to say, somehow. The "slide" thing is the best analogy so far.

Normally though, I think polished stainless and chrome are fairly similar in their grip and people tend to have differing opinions. I have never heard anyone say that there is a metal with better grip and less slip than true brass.

Everyone, thanks for your responses 🙂

Interesting, CalBear. It is matte, which is quite strange for a pole. It's really difficult to describe…it's not slippery like chrome or polished SS, it is just impossible to hold on to. It is slidy, like a metal slide at the park when you're a kid.

I've never experienced this before on a pole. When I put Itac grip stuff on it, it helps for about five-ten minutes of uninteruppted use and then wears off and starts kind of piling off on your hands. Never used a Lil Mynx SS, I'm now considerinig it, but I don't want a single piece pole 🙁

Let me know if you find something that works for you with this pole/or if you LIKE the finish/grip on it. I am finding myself completely unable to work with it, after having it for a week. I replaced my chrome X Pole with it.

The people at PS cited "quality control" issues with X Pole. I never had that, though I was allergic to the chrome, sadly. I loved everything about my chrome pole and all studios I've ever been to use them. Too bad it made me break out crazily.

PS, on the other hand, sent me a horribly defective pole (quality control…hmm).  I think it's alarmist to say that X Poles contain toxins without having any evidence other than that they are from China. Normally these toxins are found in PAINT, and poles are metal, not painted.

I got my SS Xpert last week and I hate it. HATE it with a passion. I've almost killed myself twice on it. I've fallen out of two or three body spirals. I've been dancing for over a year and used SS polished finish, chrome finish, X Pole's gold finish, and I use brass poles at work, which above all are the best I've ever used. I constantly have to apply grip aid to it and it's weird matte finish. I hope I can sell this thing sometime soon and get something else…even if I do have to settle for a PS pole or something I'm allergic to. Who knows.

Why can't I find something that works for me? :'(

This post is pretty old, you're not still selling your PS pole, are you?! 🙂
