OMFG I’m so excited for this weekend!

Thanks! I really love classes, and I’m excited to learn more! Unfortunately I will be out of town for the halloween party https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif and I really wanted to go! You definitely should head over there though! All the girls are sweet and friendly and I’m sure you will have a blast! There is also the pole dance extravaganza this weekend from the michelle minx academy, it is downtown at the atomic cowboy. If you’d want to go, let me know. Or if you ever want to have a pole jam, 40 min isn’t too far.

It’s so awesome you are preaching the pole up there! =) Everyone in that town needs to loosen up and take a swing around! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_compress.gif

I had just learnt my routine on Tuesday, so I only had a few days to practice and memorize! Wheeew! I don’t have a dance background (just a year of stumbling around in ballet, jazz and tap when I was 12. Awkward! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif )
I feel pretty self taught, even though I take classes. We mostly do basic spins. I think I have learnt everything else off youtube! I’m usually the only one doing reverse grabs, or inverting, but I guess that’s why they hired me.
Where did you teach your party? Do you work for yourself?

Basically you sit in a "swing" and you can do yoga poses, and combine some cirque du soliel-esque moves. I just really love being able to invert! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Anyways, I just posted a quick vid of my aerial yoga workouts.

Hey Chicago girls, anyone interested in having a pole jam in early November? Either in St Louis, or the St Louis girls can come to Chi town!

So, here are my 2 cents about this subject..
I think your husband is probably more threatened by your ex Djing there and you dancing (and him or another guy potentially getting to ogle your goodies lol). Sounds like he is ok with your dancing, just not so much in public without him. I would try to compromise with him so you can build up some trust, maybe if you wear jeans or pants (instead of shorts) and you only do tricks (no slutty dancin =) and if you have a friend video the tricks you do? That way he can really see whats going on, and hopefully chill out a little. I’m sure it is frustrating as hell for you! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif
My bf is totally cool with me taking and now teaching classes and parties, but he is not cool with me going to pole dance at a bar unless he goes too. I do kinda feel like he is babysitting me, but on the plus side, I know that no guys will mess with me, and he will DD so I get a beer or 2 https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
One other suggestion for ya.. why not ask your studio to do a pole night event on a fri or sat for a hour or 90 min? That way you can dress up sexy, dance with your girls, and THEN you can go to a bar =)

Personally, I like wearing tall boots because they grip very securely and I never have to worry I’ll slide off! You could try using Mighty Grip or iTac on your legs, make sure to shave (and not apply lotion) before class. How long have you been poling? It does take a while to become comfortable with it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I just posted a new video from class today. Working on my inverts!

Poling definitely helps me with stress and worry! When I dance.. the world falls away. I take out my frustrations, my worries and my problems on the pole! Afterward I feel great though. My body is warmed up, looser, and of course rocking out to loud music always helps =) So glad that you found something to keep your depression at bay, poling is really great because you have to dance for yourself!
