I have been to 4 pole studios, and I hope to visit as many more as I can!

FitChix Fitness Studio – St Louis, Mo (my home studio)

Soft Senuous Moves – San Antonio, Tx

    L'Rue Studio – Denver, Co

Body & Pole – NYC, Ny

There are so many great studios I would love to go to, and instructors I would love to take classes from! The ladies at Vertical Joe's Atlanta seem wild, bet I could learn some tricks from them! Or if I could get to England and hang out with the Polenastics crew. Another dream is to someday make it to Australia and dance at Bobbi's Studio in Sydney!

My vacations are now just excuses to take more pole classes! =)

You can contact Gateway Powder Coating in St Louis, Mo. Ask for Nate, he has done various projects for me and my husband, I highly recommend his work! He has tons of different color choices and can powder coat anything metal.

Welcome! I’m out in Wentzville, and teach in Creve Coeur. If you want to meet up with some new pole buddies, we have open pole class on Thursdays at 7pm. We also have our annual pole Christmas party on Dec 1st. $35 and open to all ladies! 🙂 http://www.FitChixFitnessStudio.com

It looks like she is catching with her legs, but she is also using her shoulder mount and left arm as a point of contact. At :11 she uses her left arm to brace against her shoulder. Super sweet move!

And I’ve also heard of Brass Ovaries in Austin, Tx though I have no first hand experience of their studio.

Wow! That is so awesome! Have an amazing journey!! 🙂 I would recommend Soft Sensuous Moves in San Antonio, TX. IntimateSpins is here on SV, nice studio and super great instructors! And if you make it to Midwest America, you are always welcome here in St Louis!

Someone posted that article on facebook too, and there was a huge flood of comments from polers about how many pull ups they could do! LOL. Personally, I'm up to 4 good deadweight pull ups. My goal is 10, (and super impressed someone wrote they can do 14!)

I started pole 2 years ago and couldn't do a single pull up. About a year ago, I started using a pull up bar, and I started doing silks and saw huge gains. Love being able to hold myself up, it has definitely helped me a lot with pole.

I think everyone should try a pull up challenge! How about at least 1 pull up by Christmas? =)

SV challenge along with our splits challenge?

And my advice is that the next time you go to the pole studio that you mention this incident to the staff. If he is bothering you, he could be bothering someone else too. I'm sure they want you to be comfortable coming to class, and they can definitely call the police to drive by and question him. If you aren't comfortable telling the studio, call the police yourself and report him anonymously. Either way, please feel safe and continue going to pole class! Yeah!

We have had some lurkers from time to time outside out studio, but never anything more than that. Typically the instructor or the front desk staff will ask they move on and not stare. We have called the police a few times just to patrol the area.

On one occasion I was unlocking the studio in the morning as an older man was driving by, he rolled his window down and said "Well, I wouldn't want to get in a fight with you" (in a fliratious and inappropriate manner), I just turned and deadpaned "That's cause you would LOSE" and then stared him down. He muttered something like "I was just trying to pay you a compliment" so I busted out, "If harassing me in front of my place of business at 8:45am is your idea of a compliment, you are WRONG."

I REFUSE to feel dirty or shameful about the fact that I pole dance. I am women and if you mess with me of my pole you will HEAR ME ROAR.

Oddly, I'm more defensive about protecting the studio and my friends/students than I am about worrying about my personal safety.

I had the opportunity to meet up with Leesi last week and try a private fab pole class! It was amazing, if anyone goes to Denver check her studio out. Many thanks for a fun time, sorry I couldn’t make it back for tippy Lyra! Maybe my next trip 🙂

I’ll definetly be setting up my own fab pole when I get home. I will post some pics and video from my class when I get back to St Louis.

I am super interested in getting a pole aria! I spoke with Randy at Lil Mynx who told me not to use it on a stage.. however.. after seeing and hearing the comments here I am definitely tempted to try… I would also agree that silks is much more dangerous than pole, and silks + pole = even more dangerous. (This is not something I would recommend a new poler to try) But it's beautiful to watch, and the fact that I can fuse aerial with pole brings me lots of joy!

I have a star stand alone, and I just bought 2 lil mynx poles to install in my basement so once I get situated I'll have to order it and try it on the mounted poles first.

*Side note here* Lil Mynx will be releasing a new converter kit for their non spinning poles, so you can make them rotators!! Exciting, and I'll be waiting to pick up a set!

Do it! Private lessons are a great way to focus on something you need a hand with. Let your instructor know your limits, but also try to challenge yourself a little to push past them. It's about making a bit of progress, not flying to the moon! LOL. Plus it's really nice to have one on one attention, often I find that they pick out small things I tend to forget – like breathing enough, or lifting my ribcage, or turning my toes out or whatever. And you always gain something from a lesson, whether it's new technique, a new trick, stretches, etc. Plus, you deserve it! =p Have fun and let us know what happens.
