Last year I met up with Hope McCurdy aka Keiloces and she was gracious enough to pole jam with me.
I also got tips to try out Studio Soiree, but didn't have enough time.

Wow! Just reminiscing and bumping up this thread to see if there are any new polers from St Louis on SV now?
I signed up for this site over 2 years ago, I can't believe how much I have learned and grown since then. I have met an amazing community of women, and I'm proud to have helped create a pole program in the St Louis area. It's incredible to see how pole has changed not only my life but many others around me.
Much love to the SV community, and if you ever find yourself in the STL, get ahold of me!

MemberSeptember 11, 2012 at 11:43 pm in reply to: How do you keep from getting dizzy? There are three things that helped me:
1) Spotting. Pick an object in the room and keep your eyes on it as long as possible, right before you spin round bring your head quickly round and look back at the object.
OR
2) Look at the pole. You can keep your eyes on the pole above you, having a static object to focus on can help!
AND
3) Practice. Just the act of repeating the spinning will help you eventually overcome any issues. It's only scary til it becomes super fun! I love to spin FAST now, your body will get used to the change of motion.
Keep it up =)

MemberSeptember 8, 2012 at 12:14 am in reply to: Powder coating for preservation?!I know some friends who own a powder coating company, and you can totally do that to your pole! It will change the grip completely though, it will be much hard to spin on, but easier for static movements.
The Lil Mynx company sells poles already coated.

You’ll have to decide how to make the situation work best for you. If you love the studio you are at, talk to the owner about working there. You obviously have 5 years of experience, the owner would be smart to add you to the team! Just be honest and upfront with them. Say you love being there and that if there is no opportunity there for you that you have been offered a position with another company. If you really want to teach you should go for it. Just remember that you are also giving up an established studio with instructors who can help mentor you, which may not be the case in a new studio. It could also mean less students in a new studio. Lots of pros and cons, good luck with making the decision! Let us know what happens. 🙂

I believe this is the site you are looking for, however when I look up Ms Ohio there is no info under the link. I would contact someone on the website for more details.

Lyra, Cyr Wheel, German Wheel, aerial cubeOK, I'm bumping this thread up just one last time in the vain hopes that maybe someone will read the description and possibly help me find this video! LOL. I think I have googled every single variation of the item I can come up with, and still no luck. It was SUCH an interesting piece of equipment, and I am sure that I am going to go crazy trying to figure out what it is!

MemberMarch 16, 2012 at 10:43 am in reply to: Pole Studios with 20+ Poles (Whats Your Opinion?)@PoleDanceRomance I am in St Louis too! And I STILL need to get my butt over to Michelle's studio for a class!
At Fitchix we have 2 studios, 1 has 2 poles and the other has 5.
We limit our 2 pole class to 10 girls, but we also have a PS star stage that I set up, so really 3-4 to a pole. I like being able to watch less people so I can give better feedback to each student.
In our 5 pole studio we offer workshops limited to 10 girls, but it is still very challenging to keep an eye on everyone. We also have an open pole class that is limited at 20, it can be a bit chaotic, but typically this class is more about strength training and spins. We do have some girls who have been poling over a year now, so they are great about helping out our newer ladies and spotting each other for more advanced tricks.

MemberFebruary 27, 2012 at 3:08 pm in reply to: How has pole dancing changed your life?Pole has changed my entire life for the better. I couldn't be more grateful to a shiny piece of metal that leaves me bruised, beaten and exhausted. Pole makes me COME ALIVE. It's like my personality finally blossomed when I began pole dancing.
I feel so physically strong now, and I've lost about 20lbs over the past year. I love feeling toned and tight, I'm happy with my legs, my arms, and almost… with my tummy. This is the best shape I have been in for a long time, and it makes me more aware of what I eat and what other exercise I do, because it all affects my poling!
I've been poling for over a year and half, and I'm just now starting to get more advanced moves and combos. It has definitely been a tough, painful, frustrating and amazing journey. I can't imagine what my life would be like without pole dance.
Pole inspires me. Supports me. Nourishes my soul.

And I will be in San Antonio from Mar 3 – Mar 9 if anyone wants to meet for a pole jam!

Here are my skincare tips:
1) Wash daily twice daily. Morning and night. Do not fall asleep with make up on!
2) **CHEMICAL EXFOLIATION*** Use a mild salicylic acne cleanser, lather and let it sit onthe skin for 1-2 min to let the acid work on the skin's surface. I like using Neutrogena, but anything with 2% salicylic acid will get the job done. Remember that this is a mild chemical exfoliatant and it can dry your skin out. You don't neccessarily need to use this everyday, I have sensitive skin and use it 2 -3 times weekly.
http://www.neutrogena.com/product/oil-free+acne+wash.do?sortby=ourPicks
3) ***MANUAL EXFOLIATION*** Use a small soft facial brush, or you can get a fancy electric one like a Clarasonic, and using small circular motions buff the skin on the face gently. I typically go softer on my cheeks (or any sensitive area) and a little firmer on my nose and chin (where I am more prone to clogs).
You can also use a pumice scrub. I would AVOID using St Ives Apricot scrub. You want something with a fine grain pumice, I highly recommend "Dermalogica rice daily microfoliant" or "Biolelements Pumice Peel". And again, using small circular motions apply to a damp face.
This is also not something you need to do everyday, 2-3 times weekly should be fine.
4) Make your own toner! You can use plain Witch Hazel, just add a few drops of essential oil if you want (lavender, lemom balm, etc!).
I make my own "Tend Skin" product by combining 1 part Witch Hazel to 3 parts 70% Rubbing Alcohol in a bottle, then you crush up some Non-coated Aspirin (this contains salicylic acid, and I typically use 15-25 aspirin for a 5oz bottle – you want enough dissolved in so that there is a little bit left on the bottom when it settles – shake before use).
This is a great anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory toner which helps prevent razor burn, and keeps skin looking healthy.
5) Always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS!!!! ***MOISTURIZE***
The most important step is to add hydration back into the skin. Do not skimp on this step. DO buy a day time lotion with spf, and night time deep moisturizing cream. I also use healthy skin oils like "Sea buckthorn", "Tamanu" or "Grapeseed" and add a few drops to my skin before putting on lotion. Especially when it is really cold or dry!
