This is a sweet combo! Added it to my list of tricks to try out over the weekend! I'll let you know if I have any sucess! LOL

  • @Lenee Pooh, No luck on the history. I either looked it up way long ago, or maybe I wasn't logged in when I was watching it.

@Dwiizie, I'm honestly not 100% sure.. It looks like a stationary, mounted Cyr wheel (like a large lyra you could stand in) attached to a base, and only the base itself rotates. She had a pole that screwed into the middle of the wheel base but didn't quite touch the top of the wheel. She did pole tricks, then removed the pole, and used the wheel to do tricks and dance. I've never seen anything like that since.. Darn it! LOL

  • @Lenee Pooh, I looked this video up probably over a year ago.. But I did already check my history and bookmarks, with no luck!

I'm on YT right now looking for it. This is very frustrating!!! LOL.

I just have no idea how I found her video. I've searched for lyra, lyre, circus hoop, german wheel, cyr wheel, mounted wheels, stationary spinning wheel, rotating wheel, outdoor lyra, outside circus, backyard aerial, backyard pole, etc.. Ugh!!!

I remember her performance as being very graceful.

I really just wanted a better look at her apparatus. I can't remember if the circle was bigger than her, or just bigger than a normal lyra. And I wanted to see how it was mounted. Argh!!

  • Thanks Annieloo, but unfortuantely it doesn't have the info I need.

I'm still searching for this youtube video! I still can't remember how I found it, or what I was searching for? In the video she is in a garden, lots of plants and trees. But that's about all I recall. Can't remember what she looked like, or what tricks she was doing.

And, I am pretty convinced that it is most likely a custom piece of equipment. =(

This is a very interesting combo! After watching these videos I think I am inspired to try the flag into brass monkey into shoulder mount posted by pole raven.

This seems much easier to do than the trick that you are looking to do Kylie! It just looks like she does a flag invert with the pole under her left arm and then as she straightens out (left hip should be up) she rotates her body upward and left, so that her right shoulder slides down into sholder mount. She is also changing her top (left) hand position frm facing downward into an upward thumbs cupped grip when she flips, this would be be a fast popping move in order to support the SM.

Good luck though! Those girls down under sure make up some crazy stuff! Maybe check some other NZ or Aussie videos?

I absolutely adore fake eyelashes! Here are my best tips:

    1) Apply eyeshadow and eyeliner first. You can use pencil eyeliner, you can use a small brush (get it slightly damp) and create a liner look with eyeshadow, or you can use liquid liner.

*Handy hint for those who aren't feeling confident about liquid liner, line you eyes with a pencil or eyeshadow liner first and use that line as a guide to apply liquid liner over.*

    2) Curl your eyelashes! I like to use metal curlers, and I hit it with a quick blast of warm air from my blowdryer. Like 5 seconds, just warm! NOT HOT!!! Do not burn your eyelashes or eyes!!!

    3) Apply mascara. Allow to FULLY DRY. Like 10 min. Use this time to prep your fake lashes.

**When using eyelash glue, apply a tiny bit to the end and let it dry for 30 sec to a min, it will get more tacky when exposed to air for a little while. The more patience you have, the better results you will have.

I've used every type of lash, and I prefer single "grouped" lashes. Basically a little ball of glue with 2-3 lashes attached. I start in the middle of each eye and attach one carefully with my fingers. I keep my eyes half open so I can see the placement.

This will get much easier with practice. Do this several times, not 20 min before you have to be somewhere important!! It's best to practice on a regular day off, nothing like grocery shopping in jeans and full false lashes!

If you just want a simple "winged" look, you can use strip lashes, and cut off a small section to glue to the edges of the lashline. This will make an accentuated full model look.

    False eyelashes RULE!!!

I had a mirena put in a few years ago, and I had cramping for about.. 45 min? I think I took a tylenol and held an ice pack to my lower abdomen, then drove home. Lol. It is different for everyone, I have never had any issues, and am VERY happy with mine! I plan on having a new one put in next year. I would highly recommend it. And to note, I am 28 now, and have never had kids. So even though I was not the "ideal" candidate for mirena, it has been wonderful so far!

    Polecat,

I'm right there in the struggle with you! I have been working on my handstands, and especially on one handed handstands (with one hand on the pole too) in split grip, forearm and elbow grip positions. Also, I agree with being able to do a good caterpillar and keeping your hips square. I typically go into a butterfly move and then slowly try to take my legs off the pole. I feel like I'm sooo close lol! Practice makes perfect, so good luck!

A really easy way to make your own tendskin:

    70% Rubbing Alcohol $1

    Witch Hazel toner $1

    20-25 crushed uncoated aspirin $1

Mix 2:1 parts of alcohol to witch hazel, add crushed aspirin, shake well and let dissolve for several hours. Not all of the aspirin will dissolve, so make sure to shake the bottel before use.

My BF swears by this mixture for his manly shaving needs, and I occasionally use it for ingrown hairs as well!

I’m not sure what experience or capability the girls will have, the first class will be my chance to assess everyone’s individual abilities. I think most will be newbies to pole, some may be members that have some knowledge as far as spins, basic moves, etc.

I’m definitely not ready to teach anyone shouldermounts yet.. But I will focus on being comfortable in a handstand (so they can get used to being inverted!), and learning to get into Gemini/scorpio position from the floor.

I’m definitely not the type to encourage people to jump into inverts too early. I want to make sure everyone feels safe, we don’t have crash mats, and I dont want newbies trying to spot each other. No injuries please! Lol.

I guess it will really just depend on the girls, I definitely wont hold anyone back if they have the strength and interest in doing those moves. 🙂

My main concern is strength training, confidence boosting, burning calories and having FUN!
My class is a no judgement zone! I absolutely want them to all support each other! No pole cliques, no snarky comments!

    It’s all about pole love!

I'm sure you could just buy the stage pieces, or even just buy a couple pieces to fit in with the white or black ones. I have a white base, I can change colors by changing the lights under the stage =)
