Most (if not all) student union societies are run by students, so their presence is becoming more normal in line with the rapidly rising popularity of pole fitness. Generally this popularity seems to be gaining pole fitness respect an acceptance, however there are obviously exceptions.
Maybe it is unrealistic to presume that all universities are ready to embrace something unfamiliar, but their reasoning remains appalling. They show astounding levels of ignorance for an academic institution.

I will write something on PDC site but I need to get past the ranting stage.

I’m not sure if I found that more infuriating or just depressing. It sounds like it was written 30-40 years ago.

I accept that there will always be individuals with old-fashioned or closed minded views. But individual ignorance can be addressed by education of said people. What I find shocking, appalling and ultimately depressing, is that a whole committee of people, ( and presumably mainly young socially proactive dynamic people on the basis that they have chosen to be involved with a students union), could all unanimously support such an outdated and prejudiced opinion of pole fitness. It reads as if an octogenarian bigot had written it who holds a very low opinion of females in general.

I did the same thing practicing for splits.
For me it was only rest that healed it completely. For months it was only a niggle, not enough to stop me exercising but it just wasn’t going away. And would really hurt if I tried to stretch it. A couple of weeks of more less complete rest, certainly nothing high impact, and it was fine.

    Bloody Fonji.

I've had 2 serious attempts at it in workshops.  After the first I developed a painful breast lump.  Several hospital appointments later it was decided that was probably caused by blunt trauma.  A few days after my second attempt a mole I've always had on my collar bone suddenly dramatically grew.  Another doctors appointment to which he asked if there was any chance it could have had some form of impact or trauma.  Umm…

On each attempt I felt I was getting pretty close but the medical complications are stopping me from progressing any further.

I'm a vet. Everyone at work knows but as there are 3 or 4 of us in the practice that pole it's  not considered too outrageous a pastime.

I've recently started dabbling in pole teaching, but my day job work hours are too full on to allow much of this.  Vetting part time and teaching a few evenings each week would seem like a very appealing balance.  Perhaps one day.

    I love my petite frame

I love the muscly curves of my legs

I love muscle definition in my back

I'm proud that I have a natural aptitude for pole and have reached he level I am now with relative ease

I love that through pole, where I used to be paranoid about getting too chunky if I did any weight training, I now embrace being naturally muscly as my best feature and appreciate that that's he reason for my pole achievements.

Im proud that I have stuck to a weekly exercise class, almost without fail, for 2 1/2 years

Can you do a twisty grip handspring? I find that the little spring or jump makes a big difference, and once that starts to get easier, and you can lower out of it with control, the strength builds, then eventually you can lift into it.
I’m only just at stage I can dead lift into an invert from the twisty grip and it’s not very elegant, but hopefully it will improve
