I have a 50mm Xpert and it does not spin as quickly as a professionally installed permanent mounted pole. Even though it is slower, my X has always had a nice smooth spin.
Check your installation. Also you can call X Pole to talk to them about it too.

It can be very scary to look at an audience at first but it does get easier with practice and also as your confidence of being in front of an audience grows. Each dancer has their own groove when it comes to audiences but I like to see them. I like to glance at as many people as I can and read their expressions, their posture, body language. I like to make eye contact when possible. Sometimes the stage or lighting prohibits you from seeing them at all. You just know they are there and can still attempt to gaze out in their general direction etc.
I have observed a spectrum of emotions from audience members… supportive and otherwise.
As you experiment with an audience keep in mind it's important to not get distracted by them and forget what you are doing. Don't 'own' the uncomfortable feelings if you have a few audience members that are unsupportive, unintersted or judgemental (it's their inner thing to deal with, not yours!). Thats not often but good to know it exists if you haven't seen it before.
I am sure your hubby will glady offer to be an audience member to practice on. : ) Your dance is great and the audience loved you! Look forward to hearing more about your competition.

Beautiful beginning and ending, real nice way to use that move to capture the moment and audience's attention. It was a pleasure to watch your routine and you have a very natural flow and graceful style.
Veena has some nice suggestions.
It may be due to the camera angle but I did not notice eye contact toward the audience (acknowledge/engage). Projecting your energy outward and acknowledging the audience with a glance, smirk or whatever is appropriate for the music and dance is a great way to show confidence and encourage them to identify or connect with your story.
That was a great routine, thank you for sharing it with us.

No worries regarding the speilling, I mis spell or have iPhone 'suggestions' that make for some interesting words. ; ) Like 'thong' instead of 'thing'. LOL!
I had seen in the forum there were issues with delivery but was unaware that so many did not actually get it. If anyone wants to part with their copy I am interested.
That really is awful that folks put out money and did not receive it.

It is by Shawn Frances Lee. The click here to buy link goes to a technical website so I don't think they are using that site anymore for distributing the DVD. : (
Thank you for helping me try to find it though. : )

I got some use out of this DVD but I am not challenged by it. I still like the DVD but rarely use it. It has an instruction on how to do the stretch. Then there is a run through of the stretches where it briefly displays the stretch and then has a countdown for you to execute the stretch.
For total body flexibility I adore Felix Cane's Flexibility DVD. I found it to have beautiful production and flow. For focusing on lower body/splits flexibility I love Alethea's pure splits.

Hi Moxie,
I have a PS ceiling mount and it works great. Due to the joists in my house the XPole mount was not an option for me. I have multiple products from both XPole and PS and enjoy both brands.
I had inquired on the forum if I could put an XPole pole in a PS mount and PS responded in a very professional way to the inquiry.
I decided personally to use the mount manufactured for the product I am using… I do not want to risk a product failure because I use a mount that is not specifically engineered for use with a particular pole.

Just a suggetion if you find a style/fabric you like but it is too transpartent… layer!
If you want more coverage you can wear a short under your short. For a subtle look you can wear a flesh toned base short and layer white over it. Or layering can be used as an intentional part of a costume by using contrasting colors. Often times the under short (or thong in some cases) is used as 'insurance' so lady bits don't escape or if you want more booty cheek coverage (if using short).
Options… options!

Hi! Stay focused on why you love pole and how it benefits your body and mind. Every single practice session you have is fulfilling your goals AND getting you closer to new goals. That's powerful! Don't lose sight of that. You have a pole… and the will… congrats!
The first time I attempted a pole hold I couldn't get both feet off the ground. I internalized it and felt like a pathetic weakling. Why I thought I could just lift my entire body weight off the ground on my first attempt and hold it… not sure. I had been very physically active in a variety of exercises… but none of them involved lifting my entier body weight with my upper body. None the less… I can pole hold now and do many other things that my body wasn't capable of the first time I tried.
This is what has helped me… discouraged energy doesn't serve me. Instead of saying "I can't… (enter whatever it is), or "Why can't I", or "I suck at this", or … (enter negative sabatoging thought here)… I think… "What does my body need to have to be able to do… (enter move here)". It normally is either strength, flexiblity or balance based. So then I make a plan to improve those areas.
I really like Veena's lessons. There are also instructional DVDs, youtube, articles… blogs… workshops… live classes… all kinds of wonderful resources available! This forum is a great resource too.
Happy poling!

I like the idea Erica posted because I am sure all the manufacturers get repetitive comments, we are the same target audience. Maybe different demographics/price points but we acquire poles.
Due to various sensitivities I can understand why some may not feel it is appropriate. Or that how if a manufacturer participated in the concept it could easily be manipulated into something ugly. We can find ugliness in anything that we seek to find it in.
I have enjoyed the videos in this thread and like that there is a sense of humor out there regarding common observations and themes that pole dancers commonly encounter.
