Hi Erica, thank you so much for your reply!
I am so excited for this to be available, will be impatiently waiting!
; )
Thanks!

Hi Erica,
You mentioned only available as a one piece for now, does that mean it will be available as a one piece super pole? Will it have static/spin options and also fit the PS ceiling mount?
-
@UTPoler, sounds great! My attic is not really navigateable on that part of the house but your setup sounds sweet!
@PoleFitMom, thank you for your reply. need to repaint the ceiling soon so I could just paint the 2×4 as well. Options… options!!! I want to get my ceiling mount up soon! Procrastinating because I'm nervous about drilling into joists. Once I work up the nerve… its on!

Hi PoleFitMom, I have seen this joist straddle using a piece of wood in studios and a few home vids… I am trying decide if I should do this for my home since I haven't put up my ceiling mount yet. The joist I have selected is not 'optimal' where it is located so I am considering it.
Could you please share some details? Did you put one screw on each sice of the 2X4 or two? What size/length/type screws did you use to anchor it?
Is it possible you could post a pic? I have never been able to see one of these up close!
Thank you!

Can't wait to hear more Erica! Since you will have it in most of your pole options hopefully it will work with the PS ceiling mount. : )

You are being WAY too hard on yourself. Yes you can pole with RA. Yes you can pole regardless of your age, your weight or your current fitness level. Wherever you are at right now is PERFECT.
Pole is difficult and that is putting it mildly. It is so rewarding though and the beauty of it is we can always work on improving something.
RA can be extremely aggressive or mild, people can have remission. You will want to work closely with your rheumatologist to manage the disease. When you are in flare work with your doctor to manage symptoms. You may also need to manage side effects from medications too. You may end up with a team of doctors and if that is the case, that is okay. Just take it one day at a time.
Regardling pole… we all have off days. Even healthy people have off days. When you are done with your off practice, or class or day… vent… then get focused on your goals.
Go to class! If you are comfortable with your instructor you may want to share that you are dealing with an RA flare and let them know the affected joints. They may be able to provide some modifications or suggestions to the moves.
Definitely don't give up!

Verucablue… that sucks! 10-12… that's not even big. How rude and offensive.

Hi Willio!
Thank you for the compliment! I like the shoes with the wide vamp. It conceals the big toe bunion. The small strappy shoes dig right into them… ouch!
I'm glad the pain is manageable. You will know when it is time to go forward with the surgery. All that pain is so bad wakes you up stuff is nonsense! I think you are right on… it is a delay tactic.
Poling in heels prevents the balls of my feet and toes from tearing. Initially you get some blisters from the shoes but your feet get used to it. My left big toe bunion can get inflammed sometimes from shoe but it is still worth it! I love LOVE love my shoes and will not give them up. I weare an 8.5 street shoe but for dance heels I buy an 8. That way when the top stretches out I can still wear it for a bit.
I got some bunion correctors at the local pharmacy. Honestly I do not expect it to 'cure' the bunions…. but maybe it can help with the inflammation and make my life a little more comfortable until I go under the knife. Which I want to delay as much as possible!!!
You take care and give heels a try… I warn you though, they are additive! : )

Hi Willio!
My bones fan out like a rake on Xray and there are tons of problems (yikes). Surgery for me is a matter of when not if. That being said… I dont want to lose all that recovery time!!! I am in constant pain though, especially my left foot bunion… it is very aggressive.
Go meet with your doc and discuss options. I have known people that have had great results and improved quality of life. One day I might be one of them.
Let us know how your appointment goes!

Those comments of that teacher/owner are completely inappropriate!!! In front of other students too?!?
If it feels right to you to leave the studio… do so. : (

Definitely Phoenix!!!
That's part of the reason why I am loving my feet as they are. They enable us to do what we do and what we love.
