I use rubbing alcohol and a microfiber towel. I make sure my pole towels are washed without fabric softener and also air dried after washing.

I want to try the steam method but don't have a hand held yet.

Like others say… warm up… warm the pole… don't use lotion right before pole. Make sure you skin isn't too dry. It's a delicate balance but you will find what works best for you with trial and error.

Do you have a sizing chart on the site? I figured it might be 'one size fits most' sizing but not sure.

My biggest thing is making sure I get enough protein and healthy fat in my diet to keep my appetite from getting out of control. Greek yogurt works really well for me as a protein. I will put it over a serving of fruit sometimes. If my sweet tooth is raging I put a light drizzle of honey on the fruit/greek yogurt combo and that takes care of it.

Budgeting calories has been working for me. I use a free app from http://www.myfitnesspal.com to log my calories. Since I have my phone with me all the time it is easy to add what I eat throughout the day. So if I want something extra I'll look to see how many calories I have available and if there is enough for that 'sinful' snack. If I really want it.

I also budget one free meal a week to eat whatever I want at that meal. Conditions are 1) only one meal at that sitting… so no leftovers etc to where that meal becomes two or three 2) Don't eat till stuffed. Full is okay but not over full.

I have no problem being in a room of younger (or older) people. I'm in class to have my best personal experience.

I agree that type of mixed level class would be very difficult to teach. I hope that you are able to find something that works best for you and your students.

This is my personal opinion. Age can be very relative and not an accurate measurement of someones physical abilities. I would be confused by a class marketed to 30+ or 40+, my first concern would be I would want to know how it was different than any other class. I wouldn't want simplified or less challening material so I would avoid it… unless I really understood how it was valuable to me.

Things that are important to me are schedule, class environment, location of the studio, layout of studio, pricing structure, class content, instructors dance style, progression, performance opportunities etc. A name wouldn't be enough to catch my attention. Building my expectations and then following through, would.

Flexiblity training takes time and patience. I have grown to love it, it's my favorite training. I can finally unwind and just tune into my body.

Don't lose sight of your goals and with enough time and patience you will get there! Maybe once you start to see more improvement and see the benefits cross over into your dance it will become easier for you to stick to.

Another plus… maintaining flexibility is less time/effort than gaining flexibility. That' some incentive right there. 🙂

I had a different experience with the floorwork and fundamentals and didn't have any difficulty following her instruction. There is verbal instruction while showing the move and then she also demonstrates the moves in combinations. I understand it is a matter of personal opinion and learning style. We will not all find the same things meaningful.

I have paused a DVD to just practice the move to my own music before continuing on or have worked through an entire DVD following the DVD timing. It really just depends on my mood and goals for that session.

I use the floorwork and pure splits often. The sexy fundamentals and stretching for pole, not as often. I hang onto them because they are still good resources for me. I just need some time management help to make more DVD time.

You will not be disappointed! I am in love with my Alethea DVDs… her New Sexy Fundamentals and Floorword are produced in a way that they are total eye candy. I have learned many things from each DVD and they continue to challenge me. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Thanks Lenee Pooh, I was thinking the E-6000 would be a way to go… and I'd just have to be careful with the fumes.

    Thanks Chemgoddess1 for the link!

I'll have to make a trip to Michael's!
