Since my last post, I have turned 43, placed second in the Australian Pole Fitness Championships and made it into the finals (top 10) in the World Pole Sports Championships in London.

I love hearing about other over 40 polers 🙂

    Hi
I am 42  and have just gained a place in the first Australian Pole Fitness Championships to be held at the end of April.  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Australian-Pole-Fitness-Championships/186622061400997

I have been doing classes for about 3 1/2 years but mostly train at home (inbetween work- I run my own Pilates studio – and my kids – 2 boys who are 7 & 10)
I retired as a dancer when I was 30 and never dreamed I'd have the chance to perform again.
Between my PIlates and Pole Dancing I feel so strong, although I will never have the amazing back flexibilty of some. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

The biggest down side of being older is the recovery time. I throw myself into my shows and definitley feel it afterwards.

ie. gel on legs…. then wash hands……then apply shave cream and dry hands

Thanks Cinara. MPD in Sydney wasn't my best show, mainly because I slipped alot!  I'm looking forward to seeing the Christmas show DVD though. By then I'd worked out my little formula (oh, and I use the shaving GEL on my legs) and didn't slip one bit in my show or the high advcned routine. I find it's best when I've washed my hands before I add all my stuff though

I'm in Perth too…. where do you do classes?

Personally i find dry hands better than tite grip but you could give it a go

PS. just noticed how bad my spelling was in my last post…I rely in spell check way too much!

I haev major problems with this and have found a combination that works for me (at least long enought to get through a perfoemance!)

I rub a tiny amount of shaving foam  on my hands and then spread 'Dry Hands' all over my hands. I let it air dry so. my hands are white. I find dry hands on it's own doesn't work for me but this combo has been a life saver.

    Good luck 🙂

I know it sounds weird, but at Bobbi’s in Perth, nearly everyone uses shaving cream or gel on their legs. I like the cream, but others swear by the gel. Then most girisl use dry hands or tite grip. I put some shaving cream on my hands before my Dry Hands as well.

I am competiing in MIss Pole Dance Australia on Friday October 15th (this week…eeek) and, although I am not intending on changing anything at this stage, it is a great guide for a last minute ‘tweaking’
