A very basic program that is default Windows software is Windows Movie Maker. It’s free and you should already have it, and it’s easy to use.

HOWEVER – it sucks. Then again, I’m of the opinion everything Windows sucks, lol. But it’s what I used to use before I switched to Linux…

There are several other programs out there, but I haven’t heard of a good one that’s free – Sony Vegas is supposed to be awesome, but you have to buy it (unless your proficient in cracks…). You can download free trials of it, though.

If you go back to the very first page of this forum (Tech), there is a Windows Movie Maker How-To that I wrote up a long time ago under my other username (Foxy Rei). That should get you started, even including how to find the program on your computer.

Like I said, it’s not the best but it’ll get you started until you can find something better. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m going to agree with Runemist – everyone heals differently, and as far as it effects your poling, I think it’s going to depend on where you get the tattoo.

I have a cross tattoo on my ankle, and the tattoo artist didn’t say a word to me about limiting activity (because it’ll make the ink spread?) But then again, the side of your ankle isn’t a muscle like your back is (you did say you’re getting it on your back, right?). If I remember correctly, mine cleared up in a couple weeks – like it stopped peeling and itching and all that unpleasant stuff. But once again, that’s just me.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say if you want to get the tattoo, get it before your vacation. Because if you end up having to take time off pole to let it heal, at least there’s a vacation attached to your pole break and it won’t feel as long. Plus it’s going to be really sore and you’re probably not going to want to pole even if you were home. However – one thing to keep in mind – if your vacation is going to involve swimming, then I wouldn’t. You’re not supposed to swim with a new tattoo.

I would go to a tattoo artist and talk to them about all this. A lot depends on where you’re getting it, how big it is, and what their aftercare procedures are. Different artists will tell you different things and all of them insist that they’re right https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif The guy I got mine from said absolutely no ointments because it doesn’t allow your skin to breathe and heal, and most others say use a thin layer of ointment to help it heal and keep it from being infected (and some say it’s to help hold the color). But washing it with soapy water twice a day helps it heal and takes the scabs off (because you’re not supposed to itch or pick at them) and using lotion helps with the dryness and itching. And you will be sore for a few days or so. But definitely go talk to a tattoo artist. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

The instructor said that any type of removable pole will eventually come down "with the types of tricks that we do" and that you have to have one that’s bolted into the floor and ceiling.

    Um, no.

Truth of the matter is, ANY pole can come down – one piece, removable, or whatever. The key is to make sure that it’s secure before you use it. You can’t just jump on it without testing it then blame the pole if you end up crashing to the floor – once again, that’s ANY pole.

I have one of the original X-Poles and it’s incredibly secure. I’m personally leery of one-piece poles because they have to be measured just right to fit the space, and if your ceiling and floors flex from your weight, the house shifting and settling, and from changes in the weather, that pole can’t be adjusted. With an X-Pole (or any other adjustable pole, for that matter), you can check it before you use it, tell that it’s a bit loose today, and tighten it up. If your one-piece comes loose, you can’t tighten it and it still won’t be safe to use even if it’s bolted. But then again, I might be overly paranoid and I’ve never used a one-piece, so… yeah.

All of my original videos are gone… I meant to save them to my external hard drive and must have forgotten, because they’re not there and my laptop is dead. So they’re gone forever, including all my original pole pictures, too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif So I only have 2 videos now.

But my first video was my 1-week video, which was like a half dozen spins and basic invert.

I know some people take Dry Hands and put it all over their body… I just have problems with my hands sweating, so I can’t vouch for it.

I have a couple bottles of Dry Hands that you can have, Sissy – I find that I prefer Tite Grip, anyway. I can bring them to USPDF next week and give them to you, since we’re sitting right next to each other for the pro comp… (if you want them, just an offer https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

    I’m bumping this thread, because…

I’m sure those of you who signed up for a workshop with Veena got the email that the workshops were canceled because of her losing her sister. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I just wanted to say that as much as I was looking forward to learning from Veena in person, I’m not at all disappointed or upset, given the situation.

But I also wanted to mention I think it was awesome of Veena to step up and offer to fill in because of the other canceled workshops. That was a very gracious thing to do, Veena, even though it didn’t work out in the end. I still applaud your efforts. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

And I do hope I can still get the chance to meet you someday. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

And I know there really isn’t anything any of us can say to make you feel better, Veena, but do know that all of us are thinking and praying for you. Take all the time you need and we’ll be here waiting for you!

I’m not going to the amateur comp., but I’m sitting in the right side balcony for the pro comp. Hoping that they’ll have a screen up or something so I can see… I’m thinking about borrowing some binoculars https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I’m coming from upstate NY, just over 3 hours west-northwest-ish.

With the SM, you could try experimenting with grips, too – I had the exact same problem with hitting my collarbone. I use respect grip and I don’t hit it anymore. But everyone’s different https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

If it helps any, I’m more conservative and I’m a mother and saw nothing wrong with your logo.

Just because a small child – that probably has no idea what a g-spot is – notices the sign doesn’t mean that the parent has to panic and worry about having to explain to their child what that sign is supposed to be insinuating. And it’s not necessarily insinuating anything bad, either – it’s meant to be a play on words. I’m sure the kids are hearing much worse at school, anyway.

People are the ones who give meaning to words, and just because a word is sexual, doesn’t mean it’s bad – they’re the ones with the problem here. Once again – coming from a more conservative Christian pole dancing mom here.
People put the first letters of signs in a different font all the time – it looks cool! You shouldn’t have to change your business logo and all your advertising stuff just because the building your using is in proximity with people who are offended by it. Why does the building owner care what logo is on your website??? Does he/she have direct influence over that, too? It’s stupid to change something that effects your entire business over something like this…

If I were in your shoes, the only thing I might do to try and find a happy medium is maybe make that cursive G smaller, but not drastically, and not changing the font. Or even make a sign with just a giant cursive G on it! (a round one… lol) You can keep the overall design the same but it won’t draw as much attention to "the issue" with that particular physical sign that they’re complaining about. I wouldn’t change the one on the website – if people are offended by that, they’re the ones that went to the site instead of just happening by it on the street or something. And all that would be if you’re feeling generous – you really shouldn’t have to change a thing.

    Hey Loopy,

I just started an online blog you may be interested in. I’m a Christian also, so I wanted a place to present my thoughts.

Here is the link if you’re interested: http://polespection.blogspot.com/

There are only a few posts, but there will be more. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
