I’ve heard using a rubber mallet to gently tap it off works, but I haven’t had that problem, myself.

If you can’t get it off, the way I’ve seen it packed in the case is to put it in the case with the poles. Put the base in before the poles, near the top, and place the tubes in around it so they overlap the base plate but are placed around the spin mechanism itself. Does that make sense? I can take a picture if you want…

    Ahhh, gotchya https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Okay so I just came across this….
    http://norfolk.craigslist.org/for/1676265992.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

ooooh 100 dollars… it looks like a real xpole? should I be afraid and STAY AWAY??

Email the seller and ask for close-up shots of the rubber on the dome, and of the base plate. Real X-Poles have clear-grayish rubber and X’s inscribed on two sides of the base – fake ones have black rubber and/or are missing the X’s.

Also keep in mind that’s an original X-Pole, so it’s going to be top-loading and has the joints that screw together (you can see it in the picture with the extension in it).

And the seller said they are missing the instructions and DVD – but we can help you with putting it up. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Veena did a video on it at one point, too.

Miss Sexy… Who is this woman exactly? lol

Karol Helms – she won one of the 2nd place slots at USPDF this year, which was the title Miss Sexy. The other 2nd place is the title of Miss Tickster.

…and I developed a sort of fear of the pole.

Ditto on the developing a fear thing. I completely stopped doing reverse grabs because of my hands sweating – even with the grip aids, I couldn’t hold on. There were a few times that as soon as my feet left the floor, I went straight to the floor and landed pretty hard. I was so sad because that’s my favorite spin and the one that I was the proudest to learn. After I got my gloves, I was able to do it again, but only after I practically had to re-learn how to do it – my confidence was completely shot. Kinda the same thing with the extended butterfly, too.

You could get a powerball and give those a try, too. I got one recently and they’re so much fun. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Have you tried any hand antiperspirants, like Dry Hands or Tite Grip?

I have major sweaty hand issues and I just resigned myself to gloves… nothing else has ever worked and it sucks the fun right out of it for me. You don’t want to know how much money I’ve spent on experimenting with grip aids… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

What it finally came down to for me was that I do this for fun, and it’s no fun when I do things the way that’s "better" by not relying on grip aids. Either I kept going the way I was, trying things bare-handed for the sake of doing it "right" and was miserable, or use gloves and actually enjoy myself. After poling for about a year now, I’m still constantly wiping the pole and my hands. I finally just figured I’d get the gloves, finally try some moves that I haven’t been able to because my hands sweat again before I even get into position, and that my grip will get stronger anyway because I’ll be doing more moves that rely on my grip. Not to mention it can be a safety issue, too.

I say do what you have to do, try anything and everything (budget permitting… hehe) and once you find it, don’t be ashamed to use it.

I’m pretty sure you can contact X-Pole to see if they are an authorized dealer. So if you have your suspicions, just call/email and ask.

I will do a remi drop into an egg to rest, lol!

    What is a remi?

Is that the death drop that Remi Martin does? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif Is there a real name for that, anyone know?

I don’t have problems with body sweat, just with hand sweat. After trying a ton of grip aids and me sweating through ALL of them (even the hand antiperspirants) I’ve resorted to gloves. The Mighty Grip ones are the best I’ve tried – I love them. As much as I’d like to go without them, I’ve been poling for a year and it’s not getting any better – it’s only holding me back, and we’re heading into the summer months… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif I’d rather pole with gloves than deal with the sweat and doubting my moves because I can’t hold on. I’m also switching to a 45mm pole so I can grip a bit easier, too.

    Good luck

I was wondering why the link to the poles was gone from the home page… hm.

You are correct about the mounts. And you shouldn’t have any issues as long as you put the X-Pole over a joist, I wouldn’t think… I live in a mobile home, and everything about it is cheaply made – including the ceiling panels, which I have no idea if they are drywall or what they are – and I haven’t had any problems. X-Pole also provides instructions on how to make a plywood circle plate to put between the dome and the ceiling to help distribute the pressure and provide more stability – don’t know if that’s something that would help you or not.

I may be biased, but I don’t think that you could really go "wrong" with an X-Pole – I think I’ve heard of one person who doesn’t like them (yes, literally one person). Any pole will need a stable ceiling, so I’d say go with your gut, get the pole you want, then reinforce the ceiling if you’re worried. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif

I found those videos, by the way:

You’ll notice that the second person makes a very short appearance in Part 2… lol.

Oh don’t feel stupid – names are confusing in the pole world. That’s why we have Wikipole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

The first one is the drop from the inverted crucifix – nosebreaker – with a shoulder dismount.

And honestly, I forgot the name of the second one… It’s right on the tip of my tongue… I’ll edit this when I remember the name of the stupid thing, lol (see? I told you names were confusing… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif)

    edit: sad girl drop! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
