DEFINATELY!!!! I started at 40 and there was a lady in my class that was in her 70’s and poling for the first time. She was awesome, she did everything everyone else did…inverts and all! I agree with Hookedonpole…don’t compare yourself to anyone else regardless of age or experience. Have a BLAST!

I normally pole at my gym that has brass 55’s. However, I recently took a course at another studio that had stainless 40’s. After trying both, I have slight preference for the 40. My grip was somewhat better, probably just because it was easier to wrap my hand fully around the pole. Pole burn is worse for me on the brass -but there is less slippage – overall I don’t think there is huge difference after you get use to whatever pole you are using. I recently bought a stainless 45 and one of the reasons I decided to go with that was because I was told by a friend who competes and performs regularly that 45 stainless was the norm at most venues, at least here in Canada.

I’ll join this club too! I am now 43 and started poling at about 40. I started simply because my gym installed some poles in what was once the Spin Cycle room. I was a little irritated by the change until I saw a youtube video of one of the US Competitions. My impression of pole expanded massively after watching the video and I KNEW I wanted to be able to do everything those ladies were doing! It is not only my favourite form of exercise but so much more…and I know you can all relate to that so need to go on on 😉
